Chapter 4: Strawberries and Cookies

Before I knew it, I was in front of the school building, waiting for Nicole. I tugged at my backpack straps nervously, not wanting to run into Jake.

As if destiny wanted it to happen, Jake appears next to me.

"Hey! What's up, strawberry?"

"My name isn't strawberry." I said, as I stomped my foot like a three year old.

"Strawberry." He said back stubbornly.

"I'm not strawberry." I said, as I walked into the school, forgetting the fact that I was waiting for Nicole.

"Strawberry." He sang.

That did it. "I'M NOT STRAWBERRY!" I said in a really loud voice.

Everyone in the front foyer stared at me. I wish I could melt into a goop of Alya right now. My cheeks turned bright red with embarrassment.

I walked away from Jake and went to my first class. Being the second day at my new school so far, I was able to flow with my schedule pretty smoothly. I didn't have problems with my teachers...so far.

Right after my first few morning classes, I went to the cafeteria. I caught a hold of Nicole there and sat next to her.

"Where were you this morning?" I asked.

"Well, I walked past you and Jake when you yelled at him for calling you a strawberry." She said, happily.

I stared at her, incredulously. "What a great friend I made at this new school." I said sarcastically.

"Oh, hahaha. You're funny." She said in a sarcastically, mocking way.

I opened my lunch and started with my dessert first. I placed my chocolate chip cookie I made after Jake left yesterday. I stared at it, ignoring Nicole, who was droning on about some couple broke up after dating since freshman year. I sat there savoring its beauty. As I reached for my cookie, another hand shot out and grabbed it. I looked up to see Jake eating it. My beautiful cookie! The crumbs were around his mouth and dropping down as he ate it.

"You stupid cookie monster!" I yelled, causing everyone to turn our direction.

I could care less about the attention I was getting right now. He took my cookie and did the most terrible thing ever. He ATE it. I grabbed Nicole's milk carton and threw it at Jake's most favorite thing about his body- his hair.

His jaw dropped and I smirked. I felt confident and crossed my hands across my chest. I slightly turned to smile at Nicole.

"Watch out!" Nicole said.

Before I could turn back around, spaghetti and meatballs were thrown at me. That got me angry.

"Payback!" I screamed as I pulled out anything I could find around me and threw them at Jake.

Somewhere in the background I heard, "Food fight!" Then, the rest was a blur. Food was tossed and thrown everywhere. The cafeteria lady was on the floor, protecting herself, by hiding behind the cafeteria counter. Chocolate ice cream fell on my head. Dripped slowly, creating a poopy-looking puddle on the floor. I raised a handful of mashed potatoes and got ready for aim at Jake.

Our principal, unfortunately, had to ruin the moment. "SILENCE!"

Everyone froze and didn't say anything. Then they turned and pointed at Jake and I.

"I want Jake and Alya at my office right now." His voice boomed throughout the cafeteria.

I frowned. I walked ahead of Jake to the principal's office. Before I knew it, I was so close to kissing the floor. That idiot tripped me and he walked past me and into the principal's office. I glared at his back, hoping they were bullets piercing into him.
