Chapter 11: The Grand Wedding
After my birthday became the day I also got my first date, I was ecstatic. On top of that, today was Penny's birthday. Was I over the top or what?! My aunt had to literally drag me by my hair as I wanted to be in the kitchen where some awesome chefs were cooking up dishes for the reception. I ended up walking over to the second kitchen on the third floor where the cooks of the house were making a beautiful five layered cake for Penny and her soon-to-be husband.
We kept Penny up on one floor and then her fiancé on another because it was their family tradition that they stay under the same roof before their wedding but can't see each other before it. I went up to the groom's floor which was on the fifth floor and I was invited by the smell of light masculine cologne and a manly scent. I coughed a bit, but I cleared up as I gasped at the view from the balcony. It was breath taking. You could see parts of the town from above and some trees, the pond nearby, and the little fountain that Hannah and I used to play around.
"Ah, isn't that a gorgeous sight." Said a deep voice that scared me from behind. I whipped around and saw that it was Penny's fiancé.
"Hi there, I'm Alya. Penny's daughter's friend." I extended my hand to greet him. We shook hands and I noticed how tall he was. Gosh, I had to look up at him to say something. He had the clearest crystal blue eyes I've ever seen with the perfect set of dirty blonde hair on his head. No wonder Penny chose him. He seemed so proper and physique and just simply perfect.
"Nice to meet you. I'm Alexander. A friend of Hannah's is also a friend of mine." He said, deeply chuckling.
I smiled and realized how lucky Hannah had a dad; mine on the other hand, was a different story. He was constantly gone all the time, never even called me once to find out how I was doing. A wave of tears came through, but I gulped them down. A groom and bride shouldn't have to see any one cry on their big day.
After a bit of talking with Alexander, I walked my way downstairs where everyone in the big mansion were getting into the limos that Penny had booked for everybody from the maids of the house to Alexander's family. I sat inside with my bag which had my bridesmaid dress. I sighed as I realized how much of an honor it was to be a bridesmaid for Penny. Jake was with the men and that's something that I couldn't care about too much. I mean, we kissed under the moonlight, blah blah blah, but it wasn't like he asked me out. So, nothing to get excited about.
When we reached the hotel, Penny pushed us all out of the limo and got everybody changed into their dresses in seconds and the makeup artists to go around the rooms to get everybody's makeup done.
After everybody felt set, we walked into the limos. We left the groom and bride behind as they took longer than us to get ready. All of the groomsmen and the bridesmaid stepped out of the limos and walked into the church. After about thirty or forty-five minutes, Alexander came. After a minute or so, Penny came too. Were they looking spectacular or what? She walked down the aisle and the vows were made. They kissed and the church and everybody erupted into cheers and claps. It was all done in a blink of an eye.
After getting dressed up for the reception, we all headed down to a nearby, exclusively designed reception hall for large weddings. The food was amazing and Jake was mouthwatering. I caught myself staring at him intensely as he was talking up a storm with some girl that looked perfect for Jake, unlike me. My not-really-shiny brown hair that could never attract any guys and then my personality. I feel like the way I act around them, snappy and sarcastic, just gets rid of them. I glumly looked at my small glass of water that I held in my hands. I got up and walked out of the reception hall to a room that I found right next to the bride's room. I slid down against the door and gulped, trying to swallow some tears that were going to burst out if I couldn't calm myself down. Suddenly, I heard voices coming from the bathroom. I freaked out. I jumping up and grabbed a little envelope opener that was sitting on the vanity table and took the quietest steps to the bathroom door. I heard a familiar and I froze up. It was Owen's except it was a bit deeper and ruder. I pushed the door open, hard; there stood Owen with his hand clutching the phone so hard that his hand was a pale white. I looked into his eyes and I saw fear. Except, he was looking at something behind me. I whipped around and a black bag covered my head. Well, it was more like, all I saw was black. I couldn't see anything else. I started kicking around which was really hard to do with a dress. I swear someone could hear my screams because I could hear footsteps by the door of the room. I just couldn't tell if it was my savior or some idiot that wants to kidnap me. I heard kicks and punches that were thrown. Let's just hope Owen wasn't getting beaten up. Someone tugged off the black mask/cloth thingy. My vision cleared up and I saw the same vanity except there was blood all over it. I gasped and I almost fainted, but I was caught by Owen. He wasn't even scratched. What.....
Owen must have caught me being all confused because all he said was, "I'm a spy."
My jaw dropped and I backed away a bit. But, all I could do after a few seconds was crumple down to the floor and start laughing really, really, hard.
"That was an amazing joke, Owen! Who actually did all this?" I asked seriously, wiping away excess tears.
I stared at him, waiting for him to start laughing or do something crazy like jump up and down on the bed, but no. He stared dead straight into my eyes.
"Oh my flipping god..... THAT IS FREAKING AMAZING!" I screamed as I jumped on to the bed and started jumping up and down. Anyone who was about to walk into the room was going to see a crazy bridesmaid jumping up and down on a bed with streaks of blood on her dress with three dead people around her. Was that a beautiful sight or not?
Owen looked kind of shocked as he saw my reaction. He cleared his throat and returned to his straight back posture and said yes.
I jumped off of the bed and grabbed his face with my hands and squished the sides of his mouth so he looked like a fish.
"You are so cool!" I screamed in his face, laughing like a maniac.
Then suddenly, he swiveled around to face the door. He quickly glanced at me and then pulled out a gadget that I couldn't even name. I walked up to his side, peered over his shoulder and watched every action that he did. I was mesmerized at how fast he was pressing buttons. Before I could say it was a cool gadget, bunch of large bulky men ran through the room door.
I watched the bulky men throw the big rowdies over their shoulders and walk out the door with a small salute to Owen. I whipped around to face Owen who was behind me, ending a call with someone.
I asked the million dollar question at this point, "Who are those guys?"
Suddenly, somebody screamed nearby. Owen and I took one glance at each other and ran out of the room.

Penny was an absolute mess as we entered the reception hall, but she had Alexander's arm around her, who looked uncomfortable, but was making an attempt to make her feel better. The hall was deserted. Auntie Anne was clearly trying calm down a shaken Emmett who happened to wincing in pain. Wait, wincing in pain...
I ran up to Emmett in urgency, close to tripping on my own heels. I gently took his arm into my hands and use some of the techniques I learned in a first aid class. I felt some bones that were a bit off and he was really in pain, as tears came out in a faster and silent pace. I picked him up and spoke urgently, "Auntie, call the ambulance, we have to get Emmett to the emergency room as soon as possible. I think he injured his arm." She fumbled with her phone as mascara was running down her eyes and she was trying to tell me something. But, I was busy looking around for Jake. I pulled myself up from the kneeling position I was in. Jake was nowhere to be seen. I ran over to Penny.
"Where is Jake?" She kept sobbing. I laid a comforting hand on her back and the loudest sob broke out as I looked down to see a heel on the floor. It wasn't just anyone's heel. It was Hannah's. I gasped and backed into a wall and slid down. They took Hannah with them. I was shaken. I was having an anxiety attack. Breath in, breath out, breath in, breath out. As I calmed down, I got back up and stumbled over to Owen who was throwing commands to police officers. We had to find Hannah. I pulled Owen away as he finished his last command.
I threw him a pair of keys to a car as I rushed to the other side. Our eyes connected and I broke of the gaze to say yes to keep moving. He let out a calm sigh and got in. I moved to the back seeing that someone that came to the wedding had left a pair of clothes in the back. They were a bit loose for me, but better than running around in a dress and heels. We drove through red lights and got to an eerie looking building. Owen pulled me out as I was very shocked. He pulled me into the building and told me to sit down in a cold metal chair. I nodded slowly. I watched in wonder as he clicked away rapidly, getting things done really quickly. He was speaking in a hushed voice, I caught only some things that were being said, "...Can't ....tell ...happening ...not ...now ..."
"Okay bye." Owen clicked a button and everything closed up.
"It's about time you know." He said, closing his eyes and taking a deep breath.
