Chapter 14: Trust No One
The three of us were hot on our toes, but we also had three men dressed in black that were hot on our heels. These men weren't a part of our team of 'saving-the-day.' I ran like there was an anaconda that was after me and Cecilia was too. Owen seemed to be the one that wasn't going to be running out of breath. I was almost there to catch up with Owen. We knew that he was thinking about jumping into a running cargo train. We could make it in just a few more yards. Suddenly, my clumsiness took the best of me as I stumbled on my own feet and I fell down. Their go our chances of running away before they catch up to us. All I wanted to do was start crying. Cecilia stopped and ran back and tried to get me back up on my feet but I couldn't do it. My foot felt weird. Ouch. Owen stopped running and turned back to pick me up and all I heard was running and from behind us, but closer. They seemed to catch up with us and Owen couldn't pull out his gun in time because he was trying to get me on my feet. I grimaced and felt the tears pouring out. The three men took a hold of us and they placed black masks over our faces and took us away to a place I didn't even know about.
As we reached the place, I heard one of the guys open the door and we stepped in to be not very welcomed by the smell of cigarettes. I could hear Cecilia gag and Owen cough a bit. I felt so guilty that I couldn't do anything. The person that held me pulled off my mask and I looked over at Owen and Cecilia who looked back at me in discomfort, but had a faint encouraging smile.
A deep voice cleared his throat and walked out from through the smoke that was in room. Right when I was about to cough, I looked at the man and that's all it took for me to freeze. "Alexander?"

"Nice to see you again Alya. You were a really good girl when I first met you and know I am disgusted with your behavior." He finalized with a snooty look. I rolled my eyes.
"Well, I thought you were a nice guy. We're even. Who do you work for?" I asked.
"Wells Wealth Co. What a coincidence.... We have the entire gang right here. We just need your brother. Hmmm... I wonder how we are going to get him here..." Alexander said in mock curiosity.
"You dare hurt my brother, you are going to be dead." I was in pure rage. How dare he bring my brother into the conversation?
"Oh, don't worry, my son is safe back in Los Angeles."
I froze. Alexander was the man who took 'care' of Emmett? I can't believe I was the one who ended up in luxury while Emmett... he was a baby in the hands of a villain. "You're the one who took in Emmett?"
"Of course. Who could turn down a good offer of money? My wife being the distant cousin of the royal family to get Emmett and my gang... they were amazing, but they weren't much use. They were successful with getting Emmett, but not you." He sighed, pulling out a lighter. "I'm quite special, aren't I?" While smirking, he lit a fat cigarette. "But anyways, what shall I do with my step-daughter and Jake. Oh dear, I think they were set to be the bait." He said, tapping his chin and feigning sadness.
"How could you cruel man? Why would you bring Hannah into this?" I demanded answers at this point.
"Well, wasn't she the only way to get you guys here? Awww, well I'll try better next time." He dropped his voice a pitch lower. "But, you won't have a next time Alya."
"Leave her alone! She didn't hurt you at all!" Owen screamed from the back of the room.
"Shut up, boy." Owen's captor slapped Owen across the face.
"She ruined all my plans of taking over the kingdom. I couldn't wait for Emmett to be a 'big boy.' I wanted to marry Penny after I heard that Penny had a son. My co-worker was a lame-a** and he gave me the wrong information. Penny had a daughter. It was too late by then to say no her. After leaving Penny in Los Angeles, on a 'work leave,' I made it back so I could help with setting up the trap to getting you guys here. I was so ready to get her 'son' married to you and then he would've been prince and he would have been someone really easy to kill off. Then I would have moved up to be the King of Prague. Gah! You ruined everything! Destroyed everything!" He lunged at me and I tried to move back, but his hands clutched on to my neck and he started to choke me. I felt the air start to leave my body and I was gasping for more and more air. I knew I had to do it. I kneed him in the jewels. He cried out in pain and whimpered, clutching his you-know-what. I was breathing heavily as I felt air fill my lungs again. The lightheadedness feeling went away and some men grabbed me before I could even run over to Owen and Cecilia.
