A sharp gasp escaped from her lips as Liz's eyes flew open.

Though sweat had dampened her shirt and beads of it rolled down her skin, she was shivering and as she sat up in bed, she trembled and tried to block out the bits and pieces of the nightmare coming back to her.

"Y/N? Please wake up. I had a horrible dream." She pleaded as she reached over to turn the lamp on.

But when she looked over to where you slept beside her, she noticed that you weren't there.

"Oh, no,"

Again, her heart pounded in her chest and she continued to tremble.

"Y/N? Where are you?"

She got out of bed and her feet moved quickly beneath her as she searched for you in a panic.

Though she knew deep down that it wasn't, not being able to find you anywhere made her fear that her nightmare hadn't been some sort of terrifying dream but rather had been real.

She had to find you and make sure that you were okay because, in her bad dream, you had been far from okay.

She rushed down the stairs so fast that she almost tripped over her feet and tripped down them the rest of the way.

The living room was dark and quiet which made her worry even more that it hadn't been a dream after all.

But relief flooded over her the second she turned the light on and saw you on the sofa.

From where she stood she could see your chest rising and falling steadily as you slept and though she wondered why you were down here and not up in bed with her, she was just happy to see you safe and sound.

A heavy breath escaped her lips as she walked over to you and when she put her hand on your shoulder, you opened your eyes with a groan.

"Liz? What are you doing out of bed?"

"What are you doing out of bed? You almost gave me a heart attack!"

You rubbed your eyes and sat up before blinking a few times.

"I couldn't sleep so I came down here. I guess I fell asleep a few hours ago since the TV was on sleep and it turned off." You said before stretching your arms out over your head. "Why are you up, baby? When I left the bed, you were out like a light."

"I had a horrible dream."

She sat down beside you and without another word, her arms were wrapped tightly around you.

"Oh, Liz. It's alright, my love."

She set her chin on your shoulder and blinked away the tears filling her eyes.

So many emotions had overwhelmed her over the last couple of minutes from when she first saw you sleeping on the sofa until now, when you're wrapped safely in her embrace.

"I had a dream that someone had broken into the house while I was at work. We had been on the phone and I tried to get help to you in time as I raced home but they hadn't expected anyone to be in the house and they killed you. I still remember your screams and begs for them to stop and for me to help you but I couldn't get here in time. When I got here, you were gone. There was nothing I could do."

You rubbed her back soothingly, feeling terrified just at the description of her nightmare.

"That's so scary. I understand why it had you so shaken up."

She breathed out a shaky breath against your shoulder before looking into your eyes.

"But it was just a nightmare. I'm okay."

"I know." She said, nodding her head. "But when I woke up and you weren't beside me, I almost worried that it hadn't been a dream and it was real."

She gently brushed her fingers across your skin, almost as if she was making certain that you were truly here with her and that you were safe.

"I just can't imagine losing you. I was so scared."

"I'm sure you were, baby. I know I'd be terrified if I had that kind of dream about anyone, especially you."

She kissed your shoulder a few times before looking at you with a small smile, her eyes so heavy she could hardly keep them open.

"Can we go to bed?"

"Sure, my love,"

She got up and kept her hand in yours as she led you up the stairs, turning the light off as she went.

Once you were both in bed, she snuggled up close to you.

Going back to sleep any other way wasn't an option, not after that awful dream.

"It's okay, Liz. I'm here. We're okay."

She closed her tired eyes and began to fall asleep.

"I know." She sighed. "I love you, Y/N. Please don't let me go."

"I won't, I promise. I love you too."

Before either of you knew it, you were both out cold, wrapped in each other's arms safe and sound.
