Omg Shortest chapter of my life people sorry >.<
~Kayla's POV~
"Elise, you're trembling. You scared of something? Why?" Zora looked up from a book she was absentmindedly flipping through. I watched as the door slammed shut and Elise stomped to the bookcase.
"I'm trembling..." Elise replied to the dark-skinned girl shortly, "with rage."
"Oh, okay then." The matter was dropped very quickly as we had no reason to want to know what had happened to get her so angry. "You do know what we're waiting for, right?"
"No. Not really, at least."
I resisted a laugh and realized we'd forgot to tell her. "We need to wait for a midday time period, so that we can change it to night."
"Oh, I guess that makes sense." Elise replied, looking at the red and orange streaked sky outside. I could tell she was worried about something other than the plan, but I couldn't yet figure out what that was just by looking at her...
...not that I was particularly worried about her. She's a crybaby, and a worrywart, but she can have a right fit and be perfectly stubborn when she wants to.
"Shit!" Zora dropped he book she was holding on the floor. Both me and Elise jumped a little.
"What?" Elise asked.
"I just realized all my fans on Wattpad are going to be like, 'where the fuck are you?'"
"Yeah, we already noticed that." Elise replied calmly. "Once I thought oh we're dead because you weren't replying to anything for like three whole hours!"
"..."
The room was quiet as Elise resumed staring out the window and Zora picked her book up and started to reread it. I just observed them quietly. My flip phone had ran out of battery, so there was no more music to listen to.
"Oh! Hey, look..." Elise pointed out the window, where the sky was quickly fading to a sunny and and cloudless light blue. Zora set her book down on the desk and grabbed the hourglass, turning it once. We watched in fascination as the sky darkened immediately to a midnight blue. The stars shine coldly up in the sky, with the moon streaked with wispy little gray clouds.
"You have-" I pointed to the hourglass. The sand in the top half was now falling freely down in a little stream. "-Until that's full."
"Don't forget us!" Zora said. "You should... um... Not visit."
"I am not sneaking back inside this mansion ever, so if you want to see me you better come visit me yourself." Elise replied with a smile.
"Don't die." I warned.
"I know that, stupid!" Elise yelled playfully. She opened the door. "I just wanna get out there and meet the people from other territories."
"Bai!" I said.
"Bye. I'm I'm unlucky, you'll probably see me in the dungeon."
"That's... Pessimistic." Zora bit her lip.
"Yup!" Elise slammed the door behind her.
