Author's Pov.
Adhiraj was buried deep in his office work when a sudden, inexplicable sting pierced through his chest. His heart skipped a beat — something felt off. Unsettling. His hands trembled slightly, the pen slipping from between his fingers as a strange heaviness clouded his mind.
Before he could process it, his phone buzzed.
Mom.
He picked up instantly.“Hello, Adhiraj?” Amrita’s voice cracked with concern.
“Yes, Mom? What happened? You sound tense — tell me, is everything alright?” he asked, trying to steady his voice, even though his chest was tightening.
“Beta, I’ve been trying to call Priya for the past hour... she’s not answering. She never ignores my calls like this. I don’t know, something doesn’t feel right.”
His heart dropped.
“What? No, no—don’t panic, Mom. Maybe she’s just busy. I’ll ask Baba if he’s heard from her. Just try to calm down, okay?” he said, though his own voice betrayed his worry.
He ended the call and immediately dialed Abhay. No answer.
He gritted his teeth and called Abeer next.“Hello?” came Abeer’s voice.
“Abeer, it’s Adhiraj. Do you know anything about Priya? Any meetings scheduled today?”
“No… actually, her work wrapped up early. She said she might return home soon. Wait—why? What’s wrong?”
“She’s not answering calls, Abeer. Even Mom couldn’t reach her. This isn’t like her.”
Adhiraj’s pulse was racing now. He barely heard Abeer’s response before the door to his cabin flew open.Suraj came rushing in, breathless.
Adhiraj turned sharply, dread pooling in his stomach.
The words Suraj uttered next shattered everything.
“Sir… Ma’am met with an accident.”
The room spun. His phone slipped from his hand and hit the floor with a lifeless thud.

.
Adhiraj's Pov.I could hear Abeer’s voice faintly from the phone on the floor — calling my name again and again.
But I couldn’t respond.
I was numb.
Tears, hot and relentless, blurred my vision. My heart refused to accept it.
No. No, it’s not true.
She’s fine. Just a small injury. Maybe a fracture. Nothing serious.
She’s okay.
She has to be.
I slapped myself — once. Hard. The sting grounded me for a second. I couldn’t lose myself now. Not when she needed me.
“I have to go… I have to be there,” I mumbled to myself like a madman.
And then I ran.
Out of the cabin.
Down the corridor.
I could hear Suraj calling out behind me, shouting my name, but nothing registered. I didn’t care. I didn’t even think.
I needed to see her.
