Author's POV.

Ridhima sat in her room, her textbooks open in front of her, pen tapping against her notebook. She was trying to study — but her mind kept drifting back to her sister’s hollow eyes and lifeless voice.

Her phone buzzed.

Adhiraj Jiju.

She ignored it.

But it rang again. And again. And again.

With a sigh and a frown, she finally picked it up. “Hello?”

“Ridhima, I know you're mad at me… and I deserve it. But listen to me carefully—this is about Priya.”
Adhiraj’s voice was low, urgent.

Her heart skipped. “What happened to Di?”

“Go to her room. Now. But stay calm. Don’t panic. Your parents are on their way. I’ll explain everything—just… trust me.”

“Please, Jiju, you’re scaring me—what’s going on?”

“Ridhima, there’s something very wrong. Just act natural. Take a glass of juice or anything. Don’t let Abeer know that you know. I’m coming.”

He hung up.

She sat frozen for two seconds.

Then bolted from the room.

But as she reached the kitchen, Adhiraj’s voice echoed in her mind—don’t panic.

She quickly poured a glass of juice, composed herself, and headed to Priya’s room.

She opened the door.

Inside, Abeer was sitting beside Priya on the bed, gently trying to feed her spoonfuls of rice.

Priya looked pale, distant.

Abeer glanced at Ridhima and smiled.
She returned it — though her heart was racing.

“Ridhima, you should go back to your room. Don’t you have exams?” Abeer said softly.

“I just brought this juice. Di hasn’t eaten much,” she said, placing the glass on the table, forcing a calm expression.

Abeer nodded. “Thanks.”

“I don’t want to eat anymore,” Priya muttered, turning her face away.

“Come on, Priya… just a little more,” Abeer coaxed.

“I said no, Bhai,” Priya snapped, pushing his hand.

It was just a reflex — but her push was stronger than she realized.

Abeer stumbled back.

And something metallic fell from his pocket—

Clink.

A gun.

Flashback

“Abeer Bhaiya…” Priya had whispered that night, standing in the shadows of her room, eyes full of tears.

Abeer had quickly hidden the gun, slipping it back into his pocket.

“I’m just here to look after you,” he had said.

Priya had walked up and hugged him — tightly, like a broken child clinging to the last thing she trusted.

“Bhaiya… my baby is gone…” she had sobbed.
“I had dreams… I wanted to hold him… to see him smile. And now—now he’s gone. Bhai… he’s gone!”
