Author's note:

I am so sorry I suddenly went MIA. I was diagnosed with a chronic illness at the start of the year, and although it is not life threatening, it causes me a lot of pain and so I have had to get treatment to suppress the symptoms. I have also been trying to get on track with my studies since I have had to postpone my exams because of my medical condition. On top of this I had fallen out with my best friend. It just feels like it has been a never ending hell since January and I finally feel like I am in a better head space to return to writing. Writing after all is my source of comfort. If only I could focus on writing I would have finished a hundred stories by now. But I cannot move forward until I finish this story. ♥️♥️

I love you all and thank you for your sweet messages while I was away. I need to catch up and reply to them all <3

Love,

Minty

Seth's POV

Watching someone wither away, while being the cause of it all was a new type of hell. Seth took Sloane back home and had him continue his rest at the mansion. But, for three days Sloane had barely eaten anything, it seemed he was further away from recovery. Seth could only watch Sloane from his balcony, who was just looking out of the window in a daze.

The chairman knew he was waiting for closure to every conversation they had up until this point. What could he say that would not cause further damage? At the end of it all he was frightened. Sloane was in a fragile state, he was angry at Seth. But Seth still wanted to keep him here. He just had to come to terms with what could happen next.

Until he saw Sloane packing his things, Seth found himself walking towards Sloane's door and opened it. The secretary had a suitcase in his hand and a bag in the other. Less than the stuff he was carrying with him when he moved in. He could see from the opened wardrobe, everything Seth had given him was left behind. The collar, the clothes, the gifts. Every trace of Seth. Every thing that signified their relationship.

It's silent between them. One on either side of the door. Sloane's eyes were swollen and it broke Seth, after all he was the one who was causing all of this. The words Seth needed to say were trapped at his throat.

"Thank you for your hospitality, Sir." Sloane said unnaturally. Distance, slowly separating them. Seth didn't know how to salvage the situation.
"You have shared your home sincerely, but all must come to an end. Even if this is just the cycle of life for you."

"Sloane you are not well. You need to rest." He hesitated to step forward. "Let me call the maid and have someone make you something."

"You don't need to concern yourself over my wellbeing. What I owe you, I will repay. I do not wish to remain at the company. I've asked Ren to prepare for a new secretary."

"I have already told you. I have refused your resignation. If you want to have a temporary person to help you with your work while you are on leave, I can request from another department."

"Is this why your last secretary left? Because they didn't want to live like this anymore?"

"What are you talking about?"

"Because they fell in love with you. You don't want them anymore so you threw them away."

"Why are we talking about other people, when this is about you and I?"

"Because I'm in the same situation. Every secretary you had has likely fallen for you. And you who seem scared to love just push them away. I did not expect you to be so cruel. You cannot return my feelings, fine I won't blame you. But you won't even let me leave ? What kind of reasoning is that?" Sloane responded.
