The next morning before school I'm being forced out of bed by Aria as she wakes me up and tells me that Emily disappeared last night. This gets my attention right away, but also needs to explain that she doesn't mean kidnapped, she means that in the middle of the night Emily picked up and left in her car. She left her cell at Hanna's and no one knows where she could have gone off to. This doesn't seem like something Emily would do, but then again after the cereal situation it could make sense that she freaked out. I never told anyone and neither did she. I may end up having to now.
So I get myself up, change and grab my stuff for school before following Aria out the door and she drives us to Hanna's. When we get there Hanna guides us to her room and Spencer is already here. She's on the phone while Aria's first instinct is to go through the closest and see if any of her clothes are missing, but it doesn't seem like there is.
"She's not at swim practice." Spencer says when she hangs up.
"No, I told you. She's not allowed near a pool." Hanna tells her as she paces beside me, knowing that since her injury she hasn't been able to do anything with her sport.
Aria walks closer and now she's standing between Hanna and Spencer and across from me, us all making a circle in the middle of the bedroom. "Do you think she did something crazy?" Aria asks as she looks at all three of us in turn.
"Like what?" Spencer asks, confused.
"I don't know." Aria says in a tone of not knowing what else to say, "Like jumping into her car and burning rubber until she hits Texas."
"And leave everything behind?" Spencer asks back, holding up Em's cell. "She didn't even take her phone."
"I wouldn't either." Aria says.
I nod, "I agree. The last thing I would want is to be followed after A keeps managing to get their grubby hands on my things."
Aria points to me in agreement, "And after A had their hands literally around her neck at that massage I wouldn't blame her for leaving."
Hanna's mom had given Emily a coupon for a free massage yesterday and instead of getting one from a person who worked there it seems like A somehow snuck in and did it themself. She's been on edge since and I would be too.
"I mean, she hasn't slept in weeks." Hanna says now.
"Who has?" Aria adds.
"Doesn't seem like an easy way to sleep after her things got poisoned." I say after then see Spencer's face get all confused when she looks at Emily's phone. "What's wrong?"
"Hanna, did you not see this?" she passes over the phone to her and I poke my head to the side to look at what she's staring at. It's a picture of Aria and Ezra kissing.
"Is that you?" She asks and now passes it over to Aria.
She grabs it from her quickly as her eyes bug out, "Yeah of course it's me."
"Or unless you're Aria's mom and just assume it's Spencer, ya know slutting it up." Spencer says in a sarcastically annoyed voice.
I press my lips together because the way she said it was kind of funny, but I try not to laugh. "Spencer..."
She gives me a small smile and an apologetic look as she grabs the phone back from Aria when she's asked where Emily got it. Once she scrolls she sees the timestamp being after 3am and an A note telling Emily to spill it to Aunt Ella and she'll give Emily an out.
"It's like when A sent me the one where you were in his car during Mona's party." I pipe up as I watch them scramble with the phone, because at some point A was trying to make me stop snooping once I found out and did the same thing where they wanted me to tell her parents in order to not be bothered anymore. Naturally I declined that offer.
