(Two Weeks Later)
"Is that the rest of them?" My mum called out to me as she unloaded the last of my bags from Libby's car. "Yep, that's it!" I said, slamming the trunk shut. I opened the door of the new, crisp, Californian, white house, smiling at the view of the newly furnished family room. "It's pretty perfect, isn't it?" Libby asked, wrapping her arm around my shoulder. I smiled and nodded, leaning into her shoulder. My mum walked up to me and squeezed my hand, "I'm glad you like it Piper. Libby completely left the decorating up to me, so I must admit it was a challenge." My mother said winking at Libby. Libby smiled and grabbed the handle of my suitcase, "I'll go run this up to our room." I nodded at her and gave her a peck on the cheek. As she left the room, I squeezed my mum in a tight hug, "Thanks so much for everything mum." She returned my embrace and ran her hands through my hair, "It's the least I can do after the way I treated you Piper. After I almost lost you that night, I realized how much Libby does love you, and you love her. And no matter what kind of love it is, love is love." I felt the tears come to my eyes as I gripped her, "Thank you mum." I whispered. She smiled and pulled back, wiping my tears from my face, "There's one more surprise I have to show you." I smiled and shook my head, "I doubt it will be able to top the house mum." "Oh, it will." She said with a sly smile. We walked around the corner to a wooden door, "Are you ready?" Mum asked, knocking on the door. "Yep! Bring her in!" I heard Libby reply as my mother opened the door. On the bed sat my dad and Libby side by side. "Dad!" I yelled with joy running to him and throwing my arms around him. "You were right. This is a better surprise." I said to my mother, beaming. The entire group chuckled as my Dad pulled back from my embrace, "Piper, I'm not the surprise." I looked at him confused, "what? Then what is?" I felt something tug on the back of my shirt as I turned around. Standing in front of me was a small little girl, no older than four, with wild red curls tied with a big white bow. Her wide green eyes blinked up at me, as she gave me a small, shy smile. She reached her arms up at me, signaling she wanted to be picked up. I leaned down and wrapped my arms around her, resting her on my hip. "Who's this?" I asked in awe, taken aback by the beauty of the little girl. Libby walked up beside me, smiling at the sight of me holding the little girl, "She's our daughter now. Adopted daughter that is." I began to tear up I'm joy as I stroked the young girls face with my thumb, "What's her name?" Libby kissed the little girls' cheek softly, "I was thinking.. Kassie."
