Walking into school the next day, I was sick to my stomach. I had skipped breakfast that morning due to the fact that my stomach was in knots. After the night I had, I didn't know what to do anymore. I walked through the front door, and into the cafeteria, the usual spot I met my friends in the morning. He was the first person I saw, smiling and laughing with his friends. "Hey! Piper! There you are babe!" I heard him call to me, smiling. What? Was this a sick joke? After what he did to me last night, he acts as if nothing happened? Hesitantly I walked up to him, "uh, can I talk to you Joe?" I asked. He smiled at me and wrapped his arms around me, "yeah, sure babe." We walked over to the side of the room and his mood completely changed, "what do you want?" He snarled. "I want to know what the hell you're doing. I thought we were done?" I asked. He grabbed my wrist and turned me so I was facing him, "we're never done Piper. The only thing that's done is you and your slut. And I expect you to tell her today." He dropped my wrist and walked away, leaving me gaping at him like an idiot. After the night I had with Libby, how could I suddenly tell her I wanted nothing to do with her?

I walked into Chemistry, pulling my chair back from my desk and taking a seat. "Hey, I'm sorry about leaving you so early." I heard Libby say, taking a seat next to me. I silently nodded an kept my eyes down at the paper in front of me. "I mean, I had a great time. I promise." She said, smiling at me. I continued to give her the silent treatment, and avoiding eye contact; I couldn't afford to have Joe found out we were talking. "What's your deal, Piper?" She asked me, "last night was so amazing and now you're acting like you want nothing to do with me." I stared ahead at the white board, praying that she would just stop talking to me before I had to tell her about what happened. "Ugh, fine Piper." She grumbled, turning away from me and folding her arms across her chest. The rest of the class felt like it dragged by. Between the multiple glances Libby kept throwing my way and the boring talks the teacher was giving, this class couldn't get any worse. Finally the bell rang as I ran out of the class. I could hear Libby calling my name behind me but I continued to speed walk down the hall. In my rush, I bumped into Joe, and he grabbed onto my shoulders. "Hey sweetie," he said through clenched teeth, "now is the perfect time for you to tell her you're not interested." I could see the worried look on her face as she came towards me, "please Joe, not in front of everyone." I pleaded. But his expression remained the same, "do it." I watched in horror as she came up to me face to face, "Piper, just tell me what's bothering you." I shot a quick glance at Joe who nodded at me, urging me on. "I don't want to see you anymore, Libby." I mumbled, staring at the ground. "Uh, what?" She asked, looking confused. "I can't talk to you anymore.." I whispered. "Why not?" She asked, glaring at Joe, "Because your a dumb bitch," Joe started, "you're a dyke. And I don't want my girl friend talking to someone trying to grope her!" Joe yelled. Everyone stopped in the hall way, staring at us. I could see the tears forming at the corner of her eyes, as she looked straight at me. "Is that true Piper?" She asked, her eyes pleading for me to save her. But I couldn't. I couldn't risk losing everything, "yeah. I'm sorry Libby." She shook her head and frowned at me, "no, I am Piper." She pushed past me, and ran through the crowd gathered around us. "There." Joe said with a grin, "don't you feel better now?" He asked. But no, I didn't. In fact, I felt as if I would never feel okay again.
