Republic of Jylon.
Jargon city.
Presidential House.
3:41 / 15:41 | HOURS
December 10th, 1774.
"We won't stand for this!"
"Jylon out of Cyax!"
The chants rang out from a small but determined group of protesters gathered along the 20-foot perimeter fence. Their voices carried with surprising force unified against the ongoing conflict on Cyax Island. Public discontent was no longer a small movement; it was growing louder and harder for the government to dismiss.
Inside the Presidential House, President Riverine sat behind his desk in the Oval Office, flanked by members of his war cabinet. The room buzzed with tense conversation, the sharp cadence of military briefings and political debate bouncing off the ornate walls. They were poring over the latest intelligence report concerning a recent and troubling incident in the city.
Riverine could only sit in silence as National Security Advisor Kasino Dync delivered the latest report from a sweeping crackdown on organised crime.
"Just hours ago, the merchant vessel DSS Trident, registered under the Duisland Federation, was intercepted attempting to smuggle firearms into Jargon Bay," Kasino said, his tone calm. "Agents boarded the vessel and detained the crew, along with several suspected accomplices. Over 10,000 weapons were seized, including heavy machine guns, rifles, and assorted munitions."
The President's eyes narrowed as Kasino continued. "The weapons match those used by the Lingtonian Royal Marines during their joint exercises a few years ago. Type-50 carbines packed in shipping crates."
A general pushed back his chair and strode forward, resting his hands on the edge of Riverine's desk. "How the hell are these people getting their hands on this kind of hardware?" he demanded. "That's enough firepower to outfit a battalion. And these bastards are getting them like they're freebies!"
"Type-50s, Mr. President," Kasino reiterated grimly. "The FDDS Director confirms they've been turning up in the hands of Duisland and Mousterian syndicates, alongside several Jylonian gangs operating out of the Shaft District."
"We have reason to believe the Duisland Federation is actively supplying these weapons," the general insisted.
President Riverine set the report aside and looked up, his gaze steady and composed. "Let's avoid assumptions," he said, his voice calm but resolute. "In matters like this, we need confirmation. Until the Duisland Federation either acknowledges or denies these allegations, we treat nothing as fact. In the meantime, instruct the FDDS (Federal Directorate of Domestic Security) to gather further evidence, something solid and indisputable."
"Understood, Mr. President... I just have my suspicions toward the Duisland Federation," the general muttered, retreating slightly.
Riverine's attention turned to Secretary of Foreign Affairs Darcy Witchwack, a sharp, pragmatic woman in her mid-forties, known for her unapologetic push for a more progressive, diplomacy-first foreign policy. It was her influence, after all, that had led to the controversial house arrest of Ambassador Bakerine and Director Remington. And now, with verified reports of Duisland-manufactured firearms entering the Republic of Jylon, her next words carried weight.
