Days passed and after a lot of contemplating to realise where her true interest lied, Swara finally decided to go for orthopedics as her speciality. She remembered talking to Sanskar about it and he was quite happy with her choice and was in full support of it.
A few things changed during this time. Swara and Anushka left the hostel they were staying in all this while as they were soon going to leave Kolkata for their specialization, and right now they were staying with their families at their own homes. Anushka decided to opt for Gynaecology as her speciality, but the field was not available in Mumbai Medical College but in a college at Delhi instead. Both besties were quite bummed when they realised they would have to part ways with each other soon. It was going to be hard for them. They had spent so many of their years together, after all. but both of them knew it was all going to be worth it for themselves and also for their families.
As for things between Swara and Sanskar, everything was alright, or at least Sanskar said so. But Swara knew him very well. It was not hard for her to understand what he hid behind that carefree and jovial smile of his. She noticed that his words, his actions around her had become more cautious and he thought twice before saying or doing anything.
Unlike before.
Before, he used to be very vocal about his deep love for her. It was not that he didn't express his love to her anymore... he did. He was with her guiding her, supporting her and was always there when she needed him. She could feel his love in every talk of his, every look from him. Only... it was not as intense as before. Or at least he avoided it.
And Swara knew... she needed to talk to him about it soon.

Two weeks later, results were out and Swara was sitting on her bed and was clinging on to her laptop on her lap as if her life depended on whatever her screen was about to show her. She took a deep breath as she felt her heart racing because of anxiousness. What if she didn't get a distinction? She needed that in order to get admission in Mumbai.
Just when her anxiety got the best of her, she felt the familiar warmth from both of her loved ones sitting on either sides of her. The warmth that was enough to calm her down. Towards her left was the one who gave her such a beautiful life -- her mother, and towards her right was the one who gave her a beautiful reason to live her life -- her Sanskar.
Looking at them for one more time, she entered her seat number and the details needed. As soon as she was done, she pressed the enter button.
"Oh, god! My result is here," the moment her result got displayed, she covered both of her eyes.
"Shona! Why are you covering your eyes?" Sharmishtha couldn't help but feel amused at her daughter's reaction.
"Because I'm feeling very nervous. I don't think I can look at it," she said. Sanskar and Sharmishtha both exchanged looks with each other.
"Aunty," Sanskar teased her a little, "I can hear someone's heart beating right outside her ribcage."
"I just don't understand this girl sometimes," Sharmishtha shook her head chuckling, "She keeps on worrying even when she has always been an above average student and there is no way she will ever get a bad score."
Hearing them talk about her like this, Swara opened one of her eyes to look at them.
"What?" she asked when she saw them both smiling, "Now can't I be nervous also?"
Sanskar chuckled and then he looked at her result for a while.
"Oh. My. God," all he could blurt out.
"What?" she asked in nervousness, "Did... Did I get distinction or not?"
"Why don't you see for yourself?" he asked.
