"Shoru! I want to ask you something?"
Swara turned around hearing the voice of her Dida and sighed in exaggeration as she knew what she was going to ask. Again! How hard was it to convince her! Right now, the three of them were in the middle of the road walking towards Sanskar's home after getting down from the cab a little before from the said location. They were already an hour late to reach Sanskar's home as Shobha had got an urgent matter to look after in her jewellery shop, and she could not put that down.
"What, Dida?" she asked and Sharmishtha slapped her own forehead while shaking her head to herself.
"Am I really looking good in this saree?" Shobha said while scanning the saree she was wearing from top to bottom, "I know you say I do... but I still feel I'm not looking good enough."
"Maa... I think Swara and I have told you and we are telling this again... you are looking very good in this saree!" Sharmishtha said that uplifted her mother.
"Is it?"
"Yes, Maa. But I don't understand... why are you so concerned about how you look? I mean..."
"Well... because we are going in front of such big people for the first time, right? We should appear decent enough," Shobha admitted and that made Swara smile seeing her innocence. Ever since they had got a call from Sanskar yesterday that they were invited for lunch by the Maheshwari family, Shobha had been quite nervous about everything since then. It's not that she doubted them, but after having witnessed the unfortunate fallout of her daughter's married life and then of her granddaughter's first marriage, she was a bit alert. No matter what, she did not want anything to go wrong again. And at the topmost of everything... she did not want herself or her family to be devalued by anyone ever again even if the reason was as trivial as how they looked or how they presented themselves.
"Dida..." Swara held her by her arm, very well understanding her conflict, "they are not like the kind of people who will judge you by your looks or status. What they will see is your inner purity and the beauty you have within you. And trust me... they are very good at knowing people," she said each word softly as if making a child understand, "Dida, I understand why you are worried but trust me, history won't repeat itself again. They all have accepted me wholeheartedly as their own, and it's not only because Sanskar loves me but it's also because they trust me too. So, please don't worry," she smiled and Shobha smiled too, the warmth in her Shoru's smile and the hope in her soothing words melted away all her worries.
"My Shoru is my precious gem," she said while caressing Swara's cheek with affection, "It's my promise to you, I will never let anyone else wrong you or your mother ever again. Till my last breath."
"Why are you saying this way, Maa?" Sharmishtha empathized with her feelings very well, "Don't say like this ever again. This time, we won't be wronged. Not when Durga Maa has finally showered our daughter with her divine blessings in the form of Sanskar," She said smiling and the words made Swara also smile and even blush a little.
"Come on Dida, Maa. I think we should hurry up," Swara said looking at the time in her watch and getting a bit alert, "Already we are an hour late! Even though I have informed Sanskar I'm sure he must be worried."
"Yes, exactly," Sharmishtha agreed, "Maa, if your questions are over then can we get going? It won't look good if we reach their late, especially today when it is the first time we are going to meet them."
"Yes, of course!" Shobha nodded finally and the three of them started walking again.

Sanskar was standing outside the entrance of his mansion in the driveway, pacing up and down as he was waiting for Swara's family since an hour. Minute by minute, his anxiousness was increasing. Even though Swara had called him and explained the reason, but still.
