Chapter 30: Vanguard Warrior VII [Cryo Glacier]

Kaito lay on the bed in his room in the headquarters. He was resting his leg on the wall, lying on his back on the bed, and holding the laptop above him, using the search engine.

Fenrir growled, and Kaito snorted, "Nah, don't worry. I'm used to lying in weird positions like this."

Fenrir snorted, and Kaito rolled his eyes, "What are you? My doctor? Don't worry about my back, I'll be fine."

Fenrir rolled his eyes before he grunted, earning a glare from Kaito, "Very funny."

"Ha!" Kaito cried happily once he found what he was looking for, and Fenrir looked at him interestedly.

"The Enigma Orb... This jewel will be displayed at one of the popular museums in Ekoda. It says here that around 100 men died in the last century trying to find the jewel that had rumors around it of granting powers," Kaito explained, and a wide smile spread across his face, "Sounds like something that could be Pandora."

"You found Pandora?" Kaito looked up to see Masumi leaning on the frame of the door of his room, before she walked in, as Kaito sat properly this time.

"Not exactly, but I found one that could be a candidate for it." Kaito replied as he showed her the laptop screen, and she quickly read the information, before a frown appeared on her face.

"You don't seem mad about this," she mumbled.

"About what?" Kaito blinked, confused.

"It says here, Kaito Corbeau has expressed interest in stealing the Jewel, leaving a note for the Museum's curator once they announced they will have the Jewel," Masumi said, pointing at the sentence in the article that said so, "Thought you'd be mad that another Phantom Thief is after it."

"I didn't notice that sentence." Kaito replied, his voice cold, which made Masumi surprised.

"Looks like there is more to this Corbeau than just being another Phantom Thief, if you're so pissed about him." Masumi noted.

"Corbeau uses my father's face and voice..." Kaito mumbled.

"What a sick bastard." Masumi commented with a frown.

"The thing is, I want to unmask that bastard because he is disgracing my father's memory, and I'm hoping this doesn't end up being one of my mother's tricks to make me quit being Kid." Kaito explained.

"No offense, but your mother left you behind to go mingle with a Magician in Vegas. I think she lost the right to act like a caring mother." Masumi said.

"None taken, that's how I feel. And how Kudo feels about his parents. You know, they don't know we know that we are cousins. Which means Kudo and I could've lived our lives, clashing mostly, not knowing that we are actually family. We still haven't forgiven them for that." Kaito added.

Masumi whistled, "I can see why you're close to the Kazama and Nakamori families."

Kaito smiled, reminiscing about his childhood, "Dan and Chris were there for Kudou and me when no one else was, same with Agasa and Jii. And then, when I moved to Ekoda, the Nakamori family practically took me in when my mother ignored me. I owe them a lot."

Masumi then nudged Kaito on his shoulder as she said, "Well, they ain't your only family now, you've got us alongside Kaiden, Akira, and Static."

"This might be the best thing that happened to me, actually, and it's all because of this." Kaito smiled, pointing at his morpher.

"Am I interrupting?" Kaito and Masumi looked up to see Aoko walk in, and Kaito smiled at seeing her in her FAUSD uniform, with a metal staff on her back.
