July 4, 1946

After Japan has surrendered and World War II has finally ended, all the countries and their people are now having a celebration. The celebration started somewhere in September 1945, but they're still celebrating until now.

"Maria?" A voice calls out from outside.

"Come in!"

The door opens and a certain tall, blonde man wearing glasses walks in. "Piri, I want to give you something."

He gives me a box. I open it and when I saw what's inside, I was surprised, and speechless. It was a mango-flavored birthday cake and it had a drawing of me and America, with our flags. It also had writings saying 'Happy Independence Day' with icing used.

"Happy independence day, Maria." He smiles. "You are now a fully independent nation."

"Kuya, I-" I felt tears coming out of my eyes. I smile and hug him. "Thank you!"

After a moment of hugging, I finally realized something.

"Oh, I forgot." I pull away from him, and take out something too. A selfie of the both of us. "Happy birthday to you too, Alfred!"
