Coma

"Sam! Sam! Wake up Sam!!" I could hear voices around me and felt people shaking me "Is she dead?" "What happened?" I could hear in the background but what I could mainly hear and feel was a warm, gentle hand on my shoulder, shaking me gently and saying "Sam, please Sam. Wake up" I knew who it was, it was Eddie. I still couldn't open my eyes, but I got all the strength I could muster and patted his hand that was on my shoulder and whispered "Eddie come here" he went quiet, obviously shocked I was conscious, but I could sense him bending over me, ready to listen to what I was about to say "I'm sorry." Was all I could say before passing out again, but just before I did I felt soft lips on mine just lightly touching my lips and I knew who they belonged to; Eddie.

I could hear. I had just woken up obviously, but still couldn't open my eyes... I could hear a strange man speaking quickly to someone, "She is steady, we think she collapsed because of shock... Did something happen to shock her?" The man asked, "Well, umm... We were all playing truth or dare and I got dared to kiss the prettiest girl in the room and I leant in to kiss her and she collapsed, but after 15 minutes she held my hand and said sorry." I immediately could hear Eddie's voice, it was so warm and comforting. I was just going to call out for him when the other man said "Well, don't blame yourself... With previous neurological studies we found out that extreme love can make someone collapse... So I would take it as a compliment!" I heard Eddie laugh and also heard distant feet down the corridor... Their other man had gone. 

I heard eddie's feet on the floor, his footsteps were getting louder so he was obviously walking towards me. 

I pretended to still be asleep, and sensed Eddie leaning over me he was whispering what seemed to be "Im so sorry Sam... I shouldn't have done that... It was cruel for you. I'm sorry" he kept repeating this and I felt tears drop down on my face... I couldn't stand seeing (well sensing eddie like this) so I got all the strength I could 

And raised my hand to his face, after struggling for a little bit... I opened my eyes and saw I was in a hospital... But most importantly I could see the most beautiful person leaning over me with tears in his eyes, resting his hand over mine and stroking my knuckles with his fingers... He gazed into my eyes and started to well up again "Sam, it's all my fault. I'm so sorry, I tri-" I silenced him by putting one of my fingers to his lips; silencing him completely. "It doesn't matter, it wasn't your fault... Don't beat yourself up... It was my fault" I looked into his eyes again and saw tears streaming down his face "shhh, don't cry Eddie, I'm alright" I said wiping his tears gently away. "I... Love....you... Sam." Eddie said leaning in to kiss me, "I love you too, Eddie" I said moving in towards him but before our lips could meet we were interrupted by a man wearing a doctors uniform who came into the room, Eddie jumped back and looked apologetically at me "Hello, Samantha! My name is William Burns, I'm your doctor... You have been in a coma for 3 days now and we will need to run a few tests before letting you go back to university, how does that sound?" I nodded I'm agreement "wait... 3 days! I must of missed so much at school!" I said starting to work myself up, "what about our music and English projects Eddie?" I looked worriedly at Eddie who came over to me and put his hand on my shoulder, "Don't worry Sam, I've been doing the work for the both of us and will teach you everything you've missed, I wrote lyrics to our song as well... All that matters is that you get better soon, promise me you'll try?" I nodded and said "I promise Eddie"  

Dr. Burns came over to me and asked Eddie to follow him, Eddie agreed and they walked out if my room leaving me on my own. I strained to attempt to hear what they were saying to one another, but all I could hear was anxious sounding whispers, after about 5 minutes (by which time I was forcing myself to keep awake) they came back in. Eddie looked as if he had been crying really hard. "Eddie, what's the matter? Why are you crying? Eddie, tell me!" I said getting worked up, I was so worried that something bad had happened, that I attempted to unclip myself to all the wires I was attached to and get up to go over to Eddie. Immediately though Eddie and Dr. Burns came and clipped me back to the machines "Sam, don't do that again, you have to stay attached to these machines as they are helping you" Dr. Burns tried to explain, but I barely listened as I said "Eddie, tell me what the matter is. Now." I looked again over at Eddie who started to well up with tears again "I... Have- to... Leave- you..." He said starting to cry "The doctors say that you need some other visitors for a while and that it'll be best for me to wait for a while until I come and visit you again" hearing this I started to sob "No! Eddie, you can't leave me! I need you. Just you." Dr. Burns came over to me and said "dear, Eddie needs to focus on his school work, you'll probably still be in hospital for about 4 more days while we keep you under observations" I understood. But wasn't very happy about it. Why did they have to stop him from seeing me altogether? I need him. "Well, I'll leave you two a few minutes to say goodbye... If you want Samantha, we can arrange for Eddie to pick you up when you are discharged? How does that sound?" Dr. Burns asked me, "Sounds ok I suppose, but that's four days!" I said upset "Sam, I have to go. It's the sensible thing to do." Eddie said to me, I was confused... Hurt. 'Why would be not mind leaving me? Surely that means he doesn't love me?!' All these thoughts drifted through my head as Dr. Burns left the room, "Eddie, do you not care about me then?" I asked hurt. "No, no, no! I just said that so Dr.Burns wouldn't suspect anything, I don't know how I'll survive 4 days without seeing you!" He said coming over to me, taking my hand and squeezing it tight "I love you Sam." Eddie said, kissing my forehead gently. My body was about to make me go back into the coma, but I battled against it in order to say one last thing "Fix your night-vision and visit me." As I said that my eyes flickered closed, but I could feel Eddie giving me one last kiss on my forehead "Of course" I heard him say... Then fell back down into the coma.
