Chapter Three

Aspasia Everwood

Was it me, or was everything working out perfectly? I mean the famous life wasn’t all glitter and glamour, and everyone in the world had a different label for me. But for a bunch of different people calling me a bunch of different things, good and bad, we were doing pretty well! Nick and Jada were going to get married, we spent the whole night picking out her wedding dress. Joe Jonas was flirting with me. I was getting paid to perform on a stage, to sing. To do a hobby. And, I could eat all the chicken I wanted! But there was one world I didn’t want to face anymore—the real world.

I haven’t been famous all my life. I went to normal school. And yeah, I made friends. A lot. And that’s why my phone was buzzing off the hook that afternoon, ‘cause normal kids get out of normal schools in the afternoon. But everyone who texted me in the afternoon just hated me, and wanted to get close to me so that eventually they could crush me. The nice people texted after eight.

An essay by Waldo Emerson once explained the differences between good and evil. Of course you could walk into the world and donate a thousand dollars to every charity, but what does that help? They have more for the materialistic things. More to be taxed on. And inside, we could still have our own personal prejudices. All we have to do is sign the check and walk away. Is this evil? In a way. Sign the check and leave, sign the check and leave. This doesn’t help at all. If you could spend one day living in the shoes, you would want to do way more. And I think that Radio Peace was the only band that did that.

In the beginning of our career, we all went to South Africa and built homes and schools for people there. I met a little girl there, her name was Lenasia. She didn’t have mom or a dad. Only a baby brother. Every morning she would walk down to the river with her brother on her back and a pail on her head. What did this do? It had me bring Lenasia guardians from America, researchers that would help her, built her a home, and bought them all new clothes and food. It was a highlight.

Anyway, where was I? Ah, yeah. The real world. I had some true blue friends, who texted me every day and never got boring. Everyone else, though, turned on me. They believed the rumors. Please, I didn’t need that at all.
