Michael wore a linen black buttoned shirt and a pair of white linen chino pants. He knew how to dress, but he was one of those lucky people that whatever trash he dressed looked like luxury.

It felt awkward to prepare dinner for the father of the woman he loved - or so he thought. He had settled a table, nothing fancy, but appropriate to receive any guest, at his place. He hardly ever invited guests over, especially someone he had never met, but the decision to host Moses at his place was a desperate measure.

This was a meal he had ordered from his own restaurant, but Miriam who had cooked it had no idea of the destination of that take away. If she knew it, she probably wouldn't agree to cooperate.

As Michael opened up the paper bag on his round dining table and placed the food on proper trays, that delicious scent invaded his nostrils. He relished in that. At the bottom of the bag was a note that read: hoping you enjoy this meal! From your favorite restaurant at the Quay.

Michael smiled as he prepared everything. The table was set ten minutes prior to his guest's arrival. As he waited, he grabbed a flute of rosé and sipped on it silently, enjoying the view to the bay. In an instant, there was a door bell chiming.

He put his drink on the table and remotely allowed the entrance of his guest into the building. He walked to the door and left it ajar. A few minutes later, there was a knock on the door.

"Please!" Michael stood up to receive his guest, the guy he hoped to have as his father-in-law, even if he didn't think of it that way. "Welcome, Moses!"

Moses, a long-haired man in his sixties, greeted Michael with a handshake. "Are you tall!" He had to look up.

"There's always a giraffe in the family." Michael joked about it, but he had acquired his father's genes. The two looked alike, and he had hated that in his rebellious years.

"Do you have siblings?"

"A brother, named Samuel."

Moses was silent, as he observed the surroundings. He was so absorbed in the broadness and the light that decorated that apartment, that he was lost for words for a moment.

"Moses," Michael felt scrutinized and tried to drift Moses attention to the table he had set for them. "Sorry to interrupt."

"Yes?" Moses turned his attention to the host.

"I have ordered dinner and set the table for us. If that's okay." He tried to drift Moses attention to something else.

"Sure. I appreciate you."

They walked together to the table that was at the other end of the room, near to the open kitchen. A big window gave way to the natural light coming through. The food looked shiny and it smelled wonderful, too familiar for Moses though.

"Where did you order this from?" He wanted to find out.

"The restaurant at the Quay." Michael replied.

The answer satisfied his curiosity. "Smells like my daughter's cooking."

Michael had just put a piece of food to his mouth when he heard Moses say that. "How can you tell?" He was truly intrigued and didn't hide it.

"It's like a piece of art, there's always a detail that helps identify the artist."

"But can you tell her cooking from any other?" Michael was super intrigued.
