Yeji's pov.
I'm at 7/11 right now, eating a late-night snack alone, just wearing my hoodie with my pajamas underneath. After eating, I decided to walk for a while because I still don't want to go back to the mansion—it's boring being the only one there. Minhyun has his own mansion now, so I'm the only one living in the second Hwang house. My brother is still in the States, busy handling a new project I suggested. He said it was a great proposal and didn't want to miss it. He's really turned out to be such a workaholic.
While walking, I stopped at a small park and sat on one of the benches. The night was beautiful, the sky full of stars, and it felt so peaceful. As I hummed a song, I heard a sound from the bushes. I got a little scared, but then a white cat emerged. It looked familiar—had I seen it before? As it approached, I noticed its eyes were different colors: one green and one blue.
It sat in front of me, staring into my eyes. A bit creepy, but also cute. I saw a collar around its neck and read the name "Yetteong" aloud. It meowed at me. In Korean, it's also spelled "Yeddeong," which sounded so cute and strangely familiar. "Are you lost, Yetteong?" I asked, and it meowed again. Did it understand me? Curious, I looked at the back of the collar and found an address. I patted its head, and it purred. "I'll take you home now," I told it, picking it up like a baby. "Wow, you're kinda heavy, Yetteong." It meowed again, almost as if protesting. Could she really understand me? I wondered.

After almost getting lost, I finally found the address, and it turns out the cat's owner is a vet. I spotted a large vet shop across the street and noticed someone by the big glass window whose eyes looked familiar, even though she was wearing a surgical mask. I was about to cross the street when a phone call stopped me, making the cat leap out of my arms and dash toward the vet shop, slipping through the pet hole in the door. "Wow, she's fast even though she's fat, hahaha," I muttered to myself as I turned my back to the shop to answer the call.

I was relieved the surgery was a success. Even though the dog had a hard time giving birth at such an old age, she still managed to survive. "Oh my gosh, thank you, doctor, for saving my baby," the owner said, wiping away tears. "You're welcome, but don't give me all the credit—your dog also gave her best to survive the whole process," I replied. He smiled proudly, though tears still glistened in his eyes. I took off my mask, patted his shoulder, and smiled at him.
After the surgery, I handed the work over to my assistant and finally got a chance to rest. This vet shop operates 24 hours, and my whole body was already worn out. I don't really have to work the full 24 hours since there are plenty of other vets here, but this is just a branch of my main pet hospital in Seoul. Still, I enjoy helping pet owners here, much like Dr. Kim once helped me.
"Meow," I heard Yetteong and picked her up. "Where have you been, you little furball? I've been looking for you, you know," I said dramatically, pretending to be hurt. She licked my cheek and meowed back, as if she understood me completely. "You really remind me of her," I said softly, glancing at the picture frame on my desk of me, her, and the girls at the festival.
