I toss and turn in my 'bed' but sleep seems to run away every time I get close to it. It doesn't matter though, I'm much too busy sorting my feelings about yesterday. I mean, I can't say I didn't like the kiss because it was actually pretty good despite how quick it was. But then there is the fact that this may or may not destroy my friendship with Ashton, whom I have realized I really don't want to lose. I mean, I know I didn't tell him about the whole "swearing off relationships" thing, but after my sort of confession last night I had figured that he would sort of understand that I'm just not a position to be getting in a relationship now. Or possibly ever. By 7:15, I finally dial Destiny's number. She isn't that happy since I decided to greet her so early in the morning.

"WHAT?" she groans into the phone, I sigh but force out a laugh.

"Hey, I can't call my best friend at 7:15 in the morning?"

"I'm gonna hang up if you don't explain why your calling me so damn early."

I clear my throat, then quickly crane my neck toward the boys room to check if they've stirred at all. "Something went down last night. After me and Ash came back, we sorta... kissed?"

As soon as I tell her this she exclaims "THAT'S why Ash was acting so weird last night! I'll be right over!" Before I can protest, she hangs up the phone.

I put my phone on the coffee table when I hear a sudden frantic knocking at the door. Aw man, she's gonna wake the boys. I rush to the door, pulling it open to see Destiny in light blue polka dot pjs.

"Are you insane!"I whisper-yell at her, stepping outside of the apartment "You could wake the boys! Then how am I supposed to put them back to sleep?"

She crosses her arms, raising an eyebrow in slight irritation "Says the girl who kissed my brother."

I glare a little and cross my arms as well, mimicking her stance. "HE kissed ME!" I protest, pointing my thumb first toward her room and then at myself.

"But did you like it???" She presses, raising an eyebrow.

I feel the blush on my face before I can answer, either way I nod a little. She punch the air triumphantly as if she just won a bet.

"I knew it!" She exclaims with great triumph "I knew it, I knew it, I knew it! It was only a matter of time before you two finally got together!!:

"Destiny!" I plead, grabbing her fists and bringing them down to her sides again. "Focus! Ok? I don't know if I'm ready for a relationship yet. Or ever!"

Destiny drops her smile in a heartbeat. I could have dropped dead with the heartbroken look she gave me. She runs her fingers through her hair in deep thought, mulling everything over.

"I mean,..." I say, my voice shaking "He might've done that out of sympathy. I mean I was crying my eyes..."

"Whoa, what?!?" Destiny cut me off "Why the hell were you crying?"

"I was telling him," I say "About my past exes, and well... Let's just say they weren't the most pleasant memories."

There is a moment of silence as Destiny's face flashes slightly pale, as if imagining what I could have told her brother. Seeing events that may or may not have happened to me but not sure what was real and what wasn't.

Destiny sighs "Ash did look a little panicked when he came home." Destiny says finally "He kept muttering 'I fucked up. I fucked up.' like as though he had REALLY messed up."

I twirl a piece of my hair between two of my fingers, like I always do when I'm nervous or slightly scared. "Well, at least we're on the same page. I'm glad he didn't think I suddenly wanted to start something incredibly serious."
