I felt pain throughout my body as I began to think again. What the hell happened? I remember..... Scott. The knife. And the pain, oh the pain... how could I forget it. I kept my eyes tightly shut, I still had no idea where I was! I tried to think back again, Ashton taking down Scott... Ashton picking me up and carrying me into... where the hell was I carried into?

Then I thought of the worst thing possible. I was dead! If opened my eyes, I would see me in a casket, Destiny crying her eyes out on Jack's shoulder, the twins crying their eyes out, and Ashton... I stopped thinking about that. I just couldn't imagine how Ashton would react. That's when I began to notice the beeping noise. Ok, what kind of funeral home has a machine that makes a beeping noise. Wait, I can hear? With my ears? That settles it, I'm not dead. I'm in the hospital. Probably the ICU unit.(Intensive Care Unit)

I cracked my eyes open to test my theory. I was right.

From what I could tell, I was the only patient in the room. I could see two figures in the seats in front of my bed.

I opened my eyes fully to get a better look. A red headed woman in navy scrubs came over to me to check my vitals. While she did that, I took a look again at my surroundings.

Sitting in the chairs was my Aunt Jackelyn and Ashton, whom was fast asleep.

After the nurse had checked my vitals and had asked me if I was hungry or not, she rushed out of the room to get my breakfast. My auntie Jackie stood up from her chair and then sat in the chair next to my bed.

My aunt Jackie looks very like my mom. She has the same blonde curls as her, same high cheekbones, same smile. Her eyes however, are were a dark yet soft blue. She also was more of a fighter than a discusser.

   She smiled. "Recover well?"

I chuckled darkly "I guess you could say that."

She kept staring at my eyes, even though I averted her gaze. It felt like she was scanning my thoughts.

"How did this happen?" She asked me quietly.

I looked out the window as I began to speak. "It was a random act of..."

"That's bullshit." She stated , making me stare at her "You know it as much as I do."

I sighed. "Fine!" I said throwing my hands up in disbelief "Scott threatened me a couple months back and I had to switch phones so he wouldn't find me!" A couple of tears slipped from my eyes "But you see how much good that did me."

She narrowed her eyes a little. "Are you talking about that lying, cheating, son of a bitch that put you out here in D.C. in the first place?"

I nodded, feeling like shit. Jackie sighed.

"I guess I have no choice but to bring the boys back to San Fransico..."

"No!" I yelled, surprisingly not waking Ash. "I can take care of my brothers. They been fine under my care..."

"And do you see what's happened?!?" My aunt retorted "What if you had died???"

I stopped for a moment. I could have died. The boys would have been left without any immediate family, except our psychotic father.

"Honestly Jasmine," Aunt Jackie said "I really think you need to start your life over."

I sighed heavily. Somehow my eyes landed on Ashton. Aunt Jackie followed my gaze.

She spoke again, kinder this time. "On everything." I looked at her, slightly puzzled. "He never left that seat. If anyone was chosen to help you start over, that boy is it."

I smiled and nodded. "Just... let me say goodbye to the boys."

She nodded and went to bring them in. I looked to see Ash still asleep. He had a worried expression on his face. What was he so worried about? Me?

Both twins came dashing into the room and tackled me in a hug, knocking the air out of my lungs.

"Jazzy! Your awake!" Brice said crying.

"We thought that..." Troy tried to say, but he just began to bawl.

"Whatever you thought was wrong." I said calmly "You two are gonna go live with Auntie Jackie and Uncle Harrison. Don't argue!"I kissed the top of their heads. "Be good, ok?"

And with that they were out the door. Trying to resist leaving me.

I let out a breath of air. Why was my life like this? Why couldn't I have a normal life with a kind dad, a mother whose not dead and two brothers that were never separated from me.

I heard Ashton stir. My head snapped to attention as his eyes seemed to open slowly. When he had fully come to, he saw me. A grin spread across his face.

"Jasmine!" He said, jumping up from his seat ,pulling me into a hug and burying his head into my shoulder.

"Ashton." I said, relief sweeping over me like a wind. I noticed bandages on his hands.

"What did you do?" I asked, grabbing one of hands. "Try to chop concrete while I was asleep?"

He laughed "No,no, I.. uhm. My hands were a little busted up after I kicked yours exes ass."

I smiled "Speaking of relationships..." That caught his attention. "My aunt thinks I need to start over. With. Everything."

He stared at me. "So...your wanting to..." His eyes widened. "You want to go on a date....with me?"

I grasped his hand. "Only if your willing to start over as well."

"Are...you sure?" He asked completely unsure.

I nodded. "As long as you promise not to hurt me and to always protect me."

He smiled and kissed my nose. "Forever and always my princess."
