For once, I don't awaken to the blare of an alarm clock going off or the boys shaking me awake. I awake to pure silence, opening my eyes slowly as light pierced through the blinds onto my pale face.
I groggily lift myself from my sleeping place, stretching my aching back. If you can't tell already that I am NOT a morning person, I seriously suggest you get your head checked. I trot slowly into the kitchen, open the fridge for milk before going to the pantry to grab pancake mix for breakfast.
The time is only 9:47 when the boys walk in, carrying their stuffed animals and wearing their matching SpongeBob SquarePants pjs. They both hug a leg of mine each and mumble a good morning to me. I ruffle each of the top of their heads in turn to let them know I heard them. When I finish flipping the last pancake, I place two on each of their kids plates and the remaining three onto my own.i carry over their plates first, placing them in front of them both before I going back for my plate.
As I finish my breakfast, there is a quick energetic knock at the door. I put my plate in the sink and pull open the front door. Destiny stands in the doorway, she wears a mint green top with purple Aeropostale writing on it and a short purple skirt with black tights and green converse,a big grin is plastered on her makeup-less face.
"What are you doing here?" I ask her, a yawn escaping my parted lips as I spoke.
"Since you and Ash will be spending the day together in three hours," she says wiggling her eyebrows as I allow her into the apartment"I figured I would play babysitter for you and watch the boys."
I feel lighter in a way. "Awwww! Thank you!" I say hugging her tiredly. I turn toward the boys "Hey guys guess who you get the day with?"
"Desty!!" They cheer together as they run and each hug one of Destiny's legs with laughter.
She laughs along and I say to her as I grab my clothes out of my closet "Your the best friend I have ever had. I'm grateful I have you" At this she grins.
Thing is, I wasn't lying when I said that. As soon as I ended my relationship with Scott, he stabbed me in the back by spreading rumors about me, saying that my brothers were really my kids I had from another guy when I was 13. That I had willingly let a guy screw me at 13 and lied to everyone. All my so called 'friends' abandoned me after that, calling me names in the hall like slut, whore, and pathological liar. Even my supposed best friend at the time Ashlynn called me a young Paris Hilton. To this day I don't know what could have made her turn on me like that. At one time we were inseparable.
I shoo the boys off to their room to slip into some day clothes before turning back to Destiny."I'll bring them over to your room in like 25 minutes, then I can start getting ready for my.."
"Date?" She asks with a smirk and I give her a "Seriously?" kind of look.
"Day out with your brother." I correct her."Its not a date."
She shrugs "Whatever you say." she trills before skipping off to her room. I close the door behind her and I change into a tank top and jeans. I slide my Patrick Star Universal Jacket over my tank. A casual look for a casual day out.I check on the boys, whom are finishing up tiredly slipping on jeans and long-sleeve shirts, before slipping in and beginning to comb through their hair. I then walk them down to Ash's and D.D.'s place and knock twice on the door.
Destiny opens the door up just a crack. She makes shushing gesture with her right pointer finger.
"Ash is still asleep," she says ushering us in "he usually sleeps in until like 11 and its only 10. I give him hell for it, such a lazy ass."
"I heard that!!" I hear Ashton yell groggily. I softly laugh as Destiny goes red.
I then start to lay out the rules for the boys "They are not allowed sugar after 6:45 otherwise they will bounce off the walls and I certainly am not gonna help you if you dig yourself into that hole. Their bedtime is 8:30ish, 9 o'clock is the latest and they can watch tv until 8:00. Got it? "
