Chapter 14: Change For The Better

As the weeks passed by and I began to recover more and more, I was actually looking forward to going on the date with Ash. I had found out that Scott had been arrested after he had attacked me and fought Ash. He was in jail without any possibility of parole for attempted murder.

   Ashton came by as often as he could while I recovered. Even Mr. Tommy came by to see if I was recovering.

   "Just call me when you finish recovering ok?" He said scribbling down his phone number. "That way we can start you back to work a week after you recover." He gave me a sincere smile. "Until you come back to work, I can only give you 1/2 your pay, its the rules."

   I shrugged  "That's fine, I just need to relax for a while." I hugged him. "Thanks Tommy."

   After that, the main people to check on me were Ashton, Destiny, and sometimes Jack came with Destiny. One afternoon while Destiny and Jack were visiting me, Destiny got a call on her cell. When she left the room, Jack immediately said "I'm might ask Destiny out tonight."

   I squealed in delight. Jack looked at me funny. I just shook my head "Your completely oblivious, you know that?"

   He shook his head. Honestly me and him were rivals of some sort, but we were pretty good friends. "How do you think I should do it? You know, not seem like as though I'm just flirting?"

   I thought for a minute. Then the idea popped in my head. "I'm going to pretend I'm asleep, ok? When she comes back, I want you to try to bring up her last relationship. Get her talking, and then ask her why they broke up. If he broke up with her say 'Well, he's missing out on an amazing girl' then just turn on your charm and mention that you have begun to like a girl. Don't tell her it's her out front, only if she asks who it is or if she seems a little upset. Then sweep her hair behind her ear and kiss her."

   He looked at me like I was the smartest being alive. "How...?"

   I snorted a little "Last time she was here, we watched a movie and the guy did all of that to his best friend and they ended up dating."

   He nodded then walked to the doorway to check if she was coming up. He quickly sat back down and beckoned me to shut my eyes. I did so and heard her footsteps approach.

   "Is she asleep?" I heard Destiny ask

   "Yeah, she fell asleep almost as soon as you left. She said she was just having a quick nap." Jack said

   I heard another chair move. I squinted my eyes a little to see what was going on. They were both sitting in silence, Destiny was looking out the window.

   "So," Jack said quietly, Destiny"s head snapping to attention "what was your last relationship like?"

   Destiny sighed "Do you really want to know?" Jack nodded quickly. "His name was Luke, he was sweet and kind but he had a temper. He actually liked to drink and do drugs sometimes. One time he tried to get me to try some, I think it was crack maybe speed, and I refused. He was drunk as can be so, he pushed me and called me a weak ass. He told me he never wanted to see me again."

   Jack pulled her into a hug as she sat her head on his shoulder.

   "He was stupid," Jack said making Destiny stare into his eyes. "he let an amazing girl get away."

   She smiled and sat back up. "I'm not amazing." She stated then raised an eyebrow "What about you, any special girl in your life?"

   He put on a look like he was thinking. "Well, I have begun to fall for this girl. She's perfect, she's smart, funny, and has the cutest dimples in the world."
