Natasha watched as Clint stumbled into the living room, nodding to each Avenger in turn-his eyes lingering a second on Natasha-before beginning to make a cup of coffee.

Her eyes flickered to the calendar that sat on the wall to her right, it was 25th October.

Exactly a year since Clint stopped talking.

No one knew why, he had just stopped. He'd even ignored Natasha for a few months, which had completely blown the team away.

If the pair of S.H.I.E.L.D assassins weren't attached by the hip then something was up. At first everyone had tried their best to fix Clint, but with no avail. It was normal now, and the team hardly took any notice to it at all.

But Natasha did.

Ever since that day, one whole year ago, their relationship had never been quite the same. She hated the fact that she could never tell if he was okay or not when they were separated. She hated that he ignored her. She hated it. Everything about this stupid situation.

Natasha knew why Clint had stopped talking, but had vowed not to tell anyone, it was her secret.

"Hey Clint." She whispered gently as he passed by her to grab a mug. He barely glanced in her direction before going on his way. Natasha sighed and looked back down at the table trying to block out every other noise.

Thor and Tony were currently arguing about whether or not it was possible to walk across water, and Steve and Bruce were involved in a quiet conversation in the corner.

If Clint were okay, he would be arguing right along with Tony and Thor, risking a glance over at Natasha once in a while.

But he wasn't.

Natasha shot the last man in the arm before placing her gun back in its holster.

S.H.I.E.L.D had found another secret Hydra base and had sent the Avengers to take it down.

"Alright is everyone okay?" Natasha waited for a moment before Steve replied.

"Thor and Tony are with me, and Bruce is about 100 meters to your left. I don't have any eyes on Clint though." Natasha's heart skipped a beat at the mention of her ex best friend.

"Clint? Clint can you hear me? Please just give me some kind of sign."

Silence.

"Clint, if you can hear me, please let me know."

Nothing.

"CLINT?!"

Natasha could feel her heart beating faster and faster until it was practically bursting from her chest, where the hell was he?

There was a crunch behind her so she whipped around, pulling her gun from its holster as she did so. She pointed it at the person only to discover it was Clint. Natasha breathed a sigh of relief and sheathed her guns again.

"Steve? Found Clint, be around in five."

"Roger that Tasha."

Natasha looked up to find Clint staring at her with a haunting look in his eyes. Almost as if he was staring into her soul, drenched in red.

She walked up to him and placed a careful hand in his shoulder.

"Clint... I know you don't want to speak to anyone but please, for me."

He continued to look straight at her.

"Clint?"

Natasha could feel anger rising in her chest, a got boiling anger at the peak of explosion.

"Oh my god Clint just speak up already! Torturing me like this won't benefit anyone." Tears began to form but she furiously wiped them away.

Clint seemed quite taken aback by her sudden outburst, and-much to Natasha's surprise-took a step closer to her.

He opened his mouth, and Natasha's heart leapt in joy.

"Tasha." His voice came out raw and raspy but Natasha couldn't care less. She took three large steps hoards him and embraced him in a welcoming hug.

"Oh god Clint, I thought I'd done something wrong."

"You've done nothing wrong Natasha, you never have." He leant down and placed the lightest of kisses on her mouth, causing her to practically collapse in his arms.

"How could you ever, when you're so perfect?"
