Chapter 3: Goodbye

A few days later, I decided it was time to let myself out of the house. I was still in absolutely no mood to see anyone but Charles, but I told myself that I wasn't going to let myself become closed off to the world. I threw on some ripped jeans and some old t-shirt, then I threw on a hoodie and my beat up pair of converse. I didn't bother with make-up because, who cares, right?

I slugged my way to the coffee shop with my hood up and I brought my filled out work papers in case I made a stop there then headed out. I went to the coffee shop then to the music store.

This time Anne wasn't at the front desk. It was a middle aged looking lady with brown hair and rectangular glasses. "Um hi today is my first day I believe." I said while handing her the packet. "Oh you must be Chelsea! Anne told me about you."

She took the packet and typed in a few things on the computer then gave me a shirt with the name of the shop on it. Then she handed me a name tag that she must've just printed out. I went in the back to change.

"You look great Hun! You can start by helping people with instruments. Is that fine with you?" I smiled. I'm good with that.

"Thanks. Oh and I didn't catch your name?" She looked embarrassed for a second. "Oh right! Silly me! I'm Monica."

She stuck her hand out and I shook it. I walked around to different people asking if they needed help and a few of them did. Customers came in and out, many of them making purchases.

A young, I'm assuming college student came in looking for a guitar. My favorite. I showed him all of the different selections of guitars. While he was looking at them, I was studying him. He looked familiar but I'm not sure from where. I might as well add that he was pretty attractive too.

He had brown hair that was slightly gelled and his eyes. Wow. His eyes were the prettiest eyes I've ever seen on a guy. They were dark blue like the ocean. I couldn't help but stare as he picked up one of the guitars from the top shelf causing his muscles to show through his shirt. Hot.

Of course today I looked like absolute shit. Instinctively I tried making my sloppy bun look somewhat presentable and tried to not make eye contact so that he wouldn't notice the heavy bags under my eyes from lack of sleep for the past couple of days.

I was snapped out of my trance when he said, "Uh can I try this one out?"

"Yea sure thing." He started playing and he was good. Really good. "Wow you're pretty good." He smiled showing his beautiful smile.

"Thanks. I have a band." It wasn't until then that I recognized his voice. He was the man that dropped me off at my house. And he's the one that knew my name before I even told him. I said, "Umm this is gonna sound weird, but did you happen to give a lost girl a ride back to her house a couple days ago?"

I probably sounded so strange to him. He looked at me for a second then said, "uh yes. I actually did." I took a deep breathe "I was that uh girl." He looked at me again then he said

"Wow! That's funny. I didn't even recognize you." I smiled.

"Yea I barely recognized you either. "Oh and umm when I got out the car you said bye Chelsea which is my name..so..do I know you from somewhere?"

He smiled a different smile this time. "Actually yes. I know your brother. When you told me the address I recognized it because he's thrown a party there before and I went."

Weird. My brother. Throwing a party? And people actually came? Wow I've missed a lot in the past few years. "Woah that's so weird..he talks about me?"
