Chapter 17: Home

The next morning I woke up and I slowly did a long cat like stretch. I yawned and made my way to the bathroom to do my regular morning rituals, then went to check my calender, which I rarely ever do, and saw tiny red letters scribbled on today's date.2

I looked closer at the letters and they formed the words, 'Brian returns.' After my brain processed the words, my eyes shot open and i gasped. "Brian's coming home!" I pretty much yelled even though I was by myself.

I smiled and did a little dance around my room then plopped down on my back onto my bed. I have no idea why I was so excited about it, but he was my only family now and he was away for a long time. I sighed.

I can't believe it's already been three months. So much has happened in these three months and it's all been a blur, well, most of it anyways. I realized that I should probally do something nice for him when he gets back so I decided I would make a cake.

I changed into some clothes and then went down to my car to go to the grocery store. I arrived at the store and bought cake batter and icing. I payed for the items then drove back to my apartment.

When I got home I dumped the items onto the counter and pulled on a apron. I wasn't sure what time he would be home, but I figured he was already on the plane. After reading the intructions very carefully (because I have been known to mess up something as simple as cake before), I put it in the oven and waited.

While I was waiting for the cake to bake I pulled out a magazine and started reading it. I came across one of those stupid girly quizzes. 'Find Out Who Your Dream Date Is!' it said in bold letters. I rolled my eyes but circled the answers anyways. I ended up having the 'smart but sporty guy' as my dream date.

I laughed and shut the magazine  The cake still had to bake for 15 minutes and I wasn't really sure what to do. I decided to call Colin. He somehow always kept me a amused so I figured he could do that for 15 minutes.

About 5 minutes later there was a knock at the door. I got up and somehow tried to make my yoga pants and tank top look somewhat presentable. I opened the door to reveal a rather hot looking Colin, if I must admit.

He had on a plain white t shirt that clearly defined his muscles, and a pair of shorts. It wasn't much, but it was enough to make it an effort for me to tear my eyes away from him. I could smell his magazine and I tried not to make it obvious that I was inhaling his scent. When I finally stopped staring at him, I stepped aside and let him in.

"So what's up?" he questioned when I let him in. "Nothing really, which is the problem. I'm baking a cake and I still have to wait fifteen minutes for it and I'm bored. I figured you could entertain me." I told him shrugging my shoulders.

"And what makes you think I can entertain you? If anyone can entertain you it would be Chase. I mean he's hilarious." he said smiling as if he was colonge something funny that Chase said.

"I dunno." I said shrugging my shoulders. "I mean I could've called him, but you were closer. I could always invite him over instead though.." I said while a playful smirk was tugging at my lips. His eyes widened when I said that.

"No!" he rushed out. "I-I mean no. No that's fine. I can keep you amused." he said. I laughed. That was the first time I heard him stutter. It was adorable. I pinched his cheek.

"Well thank you." I said and spun around in the remembering chair I was sitting in. The spin lasted longer than I expected and when I kept going I got really confused. I finally slowed down and came to a stop to see Colin laughing.

"Wha-What?" I asked. Somehow my words were dizzy too.

"You should've seen your face." he said grabbing his sides and laughing even harder. Right now I was seeing three of him. I stupidly decided to get up and when I did the world started spinning right before my eyes.
