Klaus was right, the Hanami was such a colourful and enchanting event, Elena, Rebekah and Chyanne was welcomed into trying on traditional, Japanese kimonos. It was here the human Doppelganger noticed that there was a range of different types of kimonos, and they all had a different meaning and season to wear, since Hanami traditionally happens around Spring – the kimonos were made of light and breathable fabrics – some were made entirely made out of silk.
Elena wore a kimono of light green silk and cotton, decorated with cherry blossom, Rebekah was dressed in pink and red, and Chyanne was in a pale green; when they exited the shop Elena paused as Klaus held a small hair accessory made of silver, diamonds and pearls – that diamonds were twisted into a pattern that resembled flowers and had a pearl in the middle.
She let out a small laugh as Klaus effortlessly placed that hairpin in her low bun that owner of the kimono shop spent a good 30-minute perfecting.
"Perfection." Klaus whispered, his thumb brushing against her bottom lip.
"Thank you." Elena replied, her fingers playing with the hair pin and slightly jumped as someone set of some firecrackers to begin the Hanami festival, she then realised that she had gripped Klaus – who looked at her with amusement. "Sorry – those fire crackers kind of scared me."
They walked along Roppongi Sakura-Zaka, the 400-meter-long cherry blossom lane, lined with around 150 Somei Yoshino trees.
Derek had hired out some picnic items, along with some mixed bento boxes, cherry blossom themed sweets and sake – Elena had never tried sake before, but she was curious as to what it was.
Finding a spot along the lane, Elena noticed that Rebekah had managed to get a young tourist to have a picnic with, the boy's accent seemed either Russian or Ukrainian, Derek and Chyanne were off to the side – blending in with other tourist but within distance in case they needed to make a quick getaway, mainly for Elena's safety.
Before Klaus could even enjoy anything they had purchased, his phone rang and he glanced at the screen, annoyance clearly written across his face as Elena glanced at the name – Elijah.
"What is it, Elijah?"
Obviously, Elena couldn't hear what Elijah was saying but it had to do something with her as Klaus kept glancing her way every now and then, she glanced towards Chyanne who seemed to be a little on edge.
Did Elijah find out about Munin? Or was it something entirely different?
Klaus hanged up looking quite annoyed as he stalked back over towards Elena, grabbing hold of her hand and forced her to her feet, fear danced across her face as Klaus began to walk – quite fast, back towards their home.
"What's going on? Klaus... Talk to me..." Elena asked, as she ran to try and keep up with Klaus, lightly hissing from the deathly grip he had on her. "Klaus... You're hurting me!"
That seemed to snap Klaus out of whatever was happening in his mind, he turned to look at Elena, who was currently rubbing her now bruising wrist.
"It appears that the Salvatores have joined forces with my mother," Klaus hissed, there was a deadly glint in his eye. "They had successfully killed Finn, they tried going after Kol by using Jeremy – do not worry, your brother is safe and is currently in New Orleans with Kol and Elijah."
Elena took hold of his hand, giving it a small squeeze. "I'm sorry about Finn."
"Apparently all the vampires sired to Finn's bloodline had perished as well, Sage was the first to go and several other vampire in New Orleans began dropping like flies."
