"Nelly, I'm home." It is never good to tell your roommate bad news, especially when that news regards unemployment.

"I have something great to yell you! It's about your favorite bezerking, vigilante, blade-wielding terrorist."

The thud from her room clearly stated her intention. She practically stumbles through the door at the call. " Jack has returned?"

"Yep, I passed by him on my way from work. Still the same guy you know. Insane, murderous, unfit to know you."

Nelly always had a deep admiration for Jack, he was like a hero to her. It all started with his first visit to the IAC building. Through all the wreckage of the first attack, which I remember all too well, she was freed from incubation at Jack's hands. Ever since she's had a knight-in-shining-armor-complex about him.

It's sad her feelings reside as hope in him. He was never the type of person that could follow through on anything.

"Wait, Levy.. Why are you off from work so early. Did something happen?" Her suspicion was all too clear as she cut her eyes towards me.

The jigs up. Time to come out., but discretion is key. "I may or may not have quit work, Nelly"

"May or may not? How do you may or may not quit your job as a secretary? Levy?"

I had to explain it now "Jack came for Etrius. It was the only reasonable thing to do. God, I hope Durant's okay"

Nelly looked almost overjoyed to hear it. I was about to volley questions right at her, but I was interrupted wen she exclaimed "THAT MEANS JACK WILL COME FOR US!"

Oh no. How does she still remember that. Years ago Jack promised me that when he found a way to, he'd take me and Nelly to a place, a safe one, where Xio's twisted creations, and Zher's followers couldn't touch us. He said he could give us hope.

Hope doesn't have meaning anymore. Not since the squall. Not since. That reminds me, Bell needs to know.

"Nelly, let's go get Bell"

"Why does she have to know? She gives me bad feelings Levy." Her young face showing great resentment of the name. She was only fifteen when this ask started. At what age borders innocence and choice?

"Me too Nelly, but you know how she is."

We leave the abandoned apartment flat. Looking back, maybe they wouldn't have found me... The IAC, I mean... Jack never breaks a promise though.

"Logbook, Entry 1: play all." I'm at a dead end once more in my research. Perhaps a recap should prove essential to my progress...

"Year: 2187. An event only referred to as the squall caused the widespread destruction of the human population. The land was teramorphed, the skies hazened into a purple hue in the day, blue at night. The sky retains this trait today, seeming to illuminate but at night remains consistently dark as it would in normal atmospheric conditions. Several things are still pondered about the disappearance of the world's population. Foremost is the way it happened. The day of the squall, fissures opened the earth and storms brewed over cities. These storms provided conditions for unimaginable effects. Torrents of water literally pulled victims into the ground. Waves who's crest shared form with human hands. Winds that pulled people into the storms. Blizzard that froze all matter in its wake.. Only to unthaw revealing nothing in its place. Then there was the light and the birds. From the cracks erupted white light... Billions upon billions of doves transcended the fissures carrying of those who believed it to be the rapture and those who were too terrified to assume. Also, in zone areas could be seen blinding blacklight, bearing the figures that resembled wild animals. The primal-formed shades traveled in packs, abducting anyone unfortunate enough to fall into the ring of beast. When they did they merely dissipated in a screen of black mist. There were other accounts. Ones of black hooded humans dropping into the cities and using chains to pull people into the sky. Nothing could less sense, but research shows much of this accounts into the dogma of many different pantheons of religion... Christianity, Norse, Aztec, even Shintoism, and others... Perhaps on the subject of faith.. Maybe there is more to divinity than previously expected.
