The oni enclosed us as Vlad, Jack and I centered ourselves in the abandoned stone city. It looks like we are outnumbered and outmatched. But we still need to prove ourselves an ally to the shini... Even if it takes a sacrifice or two.
They seem to share the traits of the omen they command. The weapon the omen uses morphs into a more gruesome version in the oni's hand. That means no two will be alike.
And the numbers are not with us. Even if we kill them, they could take nine more and keep moving.
I hear Vlad scream " Koto! Take care of the omens in the air! "
"Got it!" Koto and the shini take to the air as black streaks fill the sky. Screams of battle and death fill the air. Blood stains the ground and water, as it rains from the sky.
The oni all speak in one chord...
"Prepare mortals, you will not make it from these ruined walls alive."
They each take a stance with their weapons. Vlad, Jack, and myself take our own stances.
Okay guys, three each, got it?
Before the others could respond, one of the enormous beings steps forward.
"You three against a fraction of my power. If you can even scratch my form, I will see you as beings worth trifling with."
This is bold, just how confident is Zitsu-kato? More importantly, just how much can he back it up?
Okay boys, proceed with caution. We have no ideas what we are up against.
"In that case!" Jack is charging the oni, " let's give it to him fast and hard! "
Jack stops in the dust as he slides to the motionless, expressionless oni. Jack has his hand outstretched and slams his palm into the thick skinned chest of the demon ogre.
Jack releases a mighty scream as torrential wind sweeps around the beast. Debris is thrown throw the air, and the ground is being ripped apart, yet he remains unmoved.
Crunch
The oni clamps down an Jack's arm, clearly breaking it in a hundred ways. Jack gets lifted up by his lifeless arm. He is meet with a terrible fate, as a powerful blow to his stomach leaves him limp. The oni cries in victory as he lobs Jack down the road.
Vlad flips over Jack before tilting back his head. He heaves forward, spewing hellfire at the oni. It responded by tearing a chunk of stone from the pavement and shielding itself. Vlad can be a brute, but I've never known him to be a fool. He backs off knowing he's in a corner.
A mighty thrust of the oni's palm sends the hunk of rock sailing in the air. Vlad deftly ducks it, only for it to nail a recovering Jack. The stone slab disintegrates against Jack's body as it's mark is knocked further back.
Time to get desperate.
I grab the harp and play a cord: a list of frequencies that could match the possible frequencies of matter. Stone erupts around the behemoth in a circle, however he is unphased.
Of course! He has a field of energy around himself that negates non-psychical contact. That's why Jack could budge him by shifting gravity. On the other hand it justifies his reasoning behind blocking the flames, the heated air is what contacts him... A beast of honor that can only be slain by real combat... This should get interesting.
I dive in, throwing my foot over my head. He blocks it speedily despite his size. He returns with a lighting-fast strike to my face. I'm blinded and tossed back. I regain my senses only to see it's gargantuan foot land on my chest.
