The souls merely sit, suspended in midair. A cluster of millions, brought together in a sphere of light. Derkeszher altered the song apparently. Typically the service song would kill mortals, then the third would push the soul into the maelstrom. I myself.... Am immune to this.
However, it makes me think. All that power and Alrach simply sits there. He is not powerful enough to control, even though he would still be formidable. And yet....
"Here is someone with great power!" Why it's Luciere! Her power is off the charts. Has she not learned even after I explained it?
"Are you thick, or just a damned fool? I'll say it again, I can control anyone who's stronger than myself!"
She carries a smug expression, even with the scar I gave her. I suppose she have it to herself... Nothing befits arrogance more than the sense of helplessness. I must project my power in order to make them understand.
She calls out to me, "then do it.."
That bitch! I'll show her, this time. I'll make her forfeit her life to me!
I reach out to her soul, and bring the energy of the magnus to my hands. I direct my conciseness to her....
Nothing! That's impossible! How can she?
"I'm not just pulling the energy into my body. I'm pushing it out at the same time. All you see is massive amounts of power moving through me. The reality is, my power is constant."
Seems trivial to think about, "so, you can transforms into a strobe light... Incredible."
She gives a sinister laugh at my remark and clenches her hand. The power around her fluctuates enormously. "I'm going to kill you, Tamiel. However, I won't even touch, I'm going to fight you just with my aura."
You can't be serious? Even if she could move the power of the maelstrom itself through her, it won't save her. I have Alrach now.... If he would move damnit!
I open my mouth and clench hand into a fist. I concentrate my anger at her, and ignite the very air around her.
Boom!
Fire engulfs her image, brightening the whole city. The shockwave levels buildings, and left no window unshattered. The inferno expands, reducing the entire city block to ash.
"Sir!"
It was Aram... His wounds were heavy and he was alone.
"What happened to your garrison?"
He constantly gasps for air, "wiped clean out. Every one of them."
"No matter, this only takes one. Aram, please wake up Alrach. Giving him your life energy should suffice in animating him."
"But sir?"
I grab his face, my grip so tight it crushes his skull. I pull his head closer to my face, "THAT'S AN ORDER!"
I pull my arm back and sling him at Alrach. The speed at which he flew was almost instantaneous, for no sooner than a threw him, a cloud of blood erupted from the impact.
His death was instantly proceeded by blue flashes of light, and his soul was pulled into this world. He screams as the stone beast consumes his soul, trapping him in eternal darkness.
I stare up to a gravely enraged Etrius.
"Oh I understand! You sealed all those lost souls up so Alrach couldn't charge his power! Sorry."
I outstretch my hand, and maybe conciseness with Alrach. His power just barely exceeded mine. I lift my hand and swipe at the air. Alrach corresponds by jamming his jagged claws into the ball of souls that Etrius sealed up.
