There was no plaza, just dust on the corpse-ridden ground. There was no city, just an ocean of glass, debris, and fallen soldiers. There was no hope, for I have decided fate!
The doors of the crumbling tower swing open, as the tower falls to its side in a thunderous crash. The last shred of humanity in this world I created has fallen. Yet more symbolism to the new age of reckoning!
I hold the Grimoire firmly in my arms, and open it to the glowing sky for all to see.
And no one comes.....
Wwwwwwwwwooooooooooosssshhhhhhh!
A huge force begins to pull everything to the main street. I resist with all my force to stay in my immediate area. In my success, I witness debris and bodies alike slamming into a single point in space. Alrach even forces his resistance to this pressure, holding his own with his wounded body.
The pressure subsides, leaving a cleared ground in the place of the rubble.
"This is where you explain your master plan to us, right?"
Jack?! "Ah so you survived everything I threw at you? No matter-"
His arrogance knows no bounds "let me guess, I'm to late, right?"
"Presicely! You ask have wasted your efforts stopping the plans of Tamiel and Etrius, and I suppose you know why?"
"Um... Because you already have a plan that exceeds their's. You used those fools to devise your own plan. As long as one of them plays the prophecy out, you ultimately benefit from it... Now you can be symbolic, that's the next appropriate step."
"Shut your damn mouth, you lowlife pawn! But indeed, I played a game with these idiots. I played the role as a medium. I pulled them together, and presented them with a logical way to settle their dispute. Each man propheciesed their anointing as a god, but had no way of knowing who was truly fate's champion. So they were to contest over it, yet did not desire to jeopardize reality. So I added my initiative: when they were ready, we would summon Alrach as a pawn. He was originally sealed into a pocket dimension by Etrius, but could not be pulled back out. So I researched a way to clone the soul, and created the soul catcher. I strong-armed the oni, and the Nightshade Valkyries, into collecting souls for my purposes. Ultimately, all the power went to recreating him, but reach of the three were planning to utilize him in different ways."
"Thanks for catching me up on everything we already knew... What I don't understand is.... Just how do you win?"
"Your baffoon created a loophole while writing the prophecy. He said that one would ascend over the others to become god of this realm... But he never specified who was entitled to it... "
I could see the revelation in his eyes. It was the most honest answer I had, yet disbelieve takes him.... I can see it..
"Jack, no soldier expects his weapon to fight him. And that was what I was: the weapon that Etrius, Torpor, and Tamiel used to push their endeavors into motion.
I am the weapon..... And I am the weilder... Many put their hands on me to move me by the hilt.... But I place my hands on the throats of those who know true power. I am true power, and none can use me!"
Jack had forged a chair from the ink I'm his blood and was striking a unusual casual position.
"But you forgot the part, where I just did...."
My ears must deceive me, for this scum believes he has fooled me somehow. "Oh, so you think you have something on me? Jack, your a fool who's lost everything! His wife! His father, his uncle. And do you know what happened to little old Nelly?"
