When I woke up the whole gang was in my room and Lynn was already awake. Then they all screamed "HAPPY BIRTHDAY!" The Darry said I would get my presents after school

-after school (and track)-

Darry had sent me out to get something from the store. He made me take my new blade that was a lot like Two-Bit's blade. Dally had swiped it for me the other day. During the walk a blue mustang pulled up to me. Four guys jumped out they looked about 17. I knew I could not handle them all. The one in the front said "Ya wanna have a little fun ya Greaser?" I didn't have time to answer. Before I knew it they had me pinned to the ground they were kicking at only two places, my head and my ribs. I started to get dizzy. Then I kicked one of them in the balls. Then I felt a hard kick on my head and just like that I blacked out.

I woke up in my bed. I tried to sit up but then had a sharp pain in my ribs. I slowly pulled up shirt and saw a rap around my ribs. Right as I was about to pull my shirt back down Pony walked in. Strangely he acted like this was nothing new. I pulled down my shirt back down and asked "What happened?" In a shaky voice. He looked at me confused then asked "You don't remember?" I shook my head no and he said "Some socs jumped you. They really got your ribs. We couldn't find any other injuries. I have been checking on you for the last couple hours waiting for you to wake up. I was wandering if any thing else hurt." Right as he said this a got a sharp pain in the right side of my head. I whispered "Yeah." And pointed to the side my head. He moved my hair out of the way and I guess he saw something because he quick screamed "Darry we got a problem." Darry ran in and saw Pony looking at my head. He moved Pony out of the way moved my hair just like Pony did. "Oh wow. This whole side of your head is bruised. Do you happen to remember what the socs did to you Jane?" Darry asked. I tried my best to say "They..... they..... I remember them kicking the side of my...... my head and..... and my ribs." "Ok well we gotta get you to hospital I didn't want to take you until you woke up. Pony get the door then you and Soda get in the car." Then Darry picked me up bridal style and I winced in pain. "Sorry I just gotta get you out to the car." He put me down in the car and that made my ribs hurt even more.

When we got to the hospital it took about 5 minutes for them to finally take me to a room. I layed down and the doctor started to ask Darry, Soda, and Pony questions while I just clenched my teeth and tried my best to breath. My ribs were so bad it hurt to breath. Then the doctor came over and lifted up my shirt so far to expose my white bra. He started to undo the wrap and I winced in pain again. I saw all the bruises. Then he lifted up my hair and left my shirt up. He then went over to the nurse and started to quietly talk to her. I just closed my eyes and tried to block out the pain. When I opened my eyes I saw the nurse walking over to me. "Miss we are going to need to get you X-rays. Can you stand up or would you like us to move your bed there." She said. I was about to respond when Darry answered for me "Miss earlier she could barely sit up. I think it would be best if you took her there." I just couldn't stand all the pain and commotion. I closed my eyes and clenched and tried to breath. Then I felt the sting of tears running down my face. Next thing I knew my bed stopped moving. Then the nurse asked "Ma'am I need you to take off your shirt." I did as she said. then they put an X-ray screen over my ribs. The nurse then said "Please lay still and when the beep the X-ray will be over." She then left the room and after about 10 seconds I heard the beep. She then came back in and turned my head and put the X-ray screen over my head then said the same thing and left. This time I heard the beep twice. Then she came back and wheeled me to a new room. I then layed there still trying my best to breath after a few minutes the boys walked in. And by the boys I mean the whole gang. I quick pulled up my cover so they could not see my bra. Soda right away asked "How ya fellin' girly." I didn't know how to answer so I just told him "It hurts to breath." I said clenching my teeth. Then I felt someone rubbing my leg. I looked up and saw Johnny. I smiled at him and he smiled at me. He came over and kissed my cheek. Then Darry noticed my shirt sitting next to me on my bed. "What happened to your shirt?" Darry asked. "They had me take it off for the *Wince* X-ray and I hurt to much to put it back on." We all sat there and the gang talked while I just tried my best to ignore the pain. Then the doctor walked in with my X-rays. He put them up on the screen. I had two fractured ribs and my head was just bruised. The Doctor prescribed some pain killers and told me to be on bed rest for a week then to come back. He gave Darry a wheel chair and they put me on it then took me out to the car (Yes I had my shirt back on). I sat in the car with Pony and Soda. I held my ribs while Darry went inside to return the wheel chair.  By the time Darry got in the car I was dosing off. I was out before we got home. But I woke up to the pain in my side while Darry was picking me up out of the car. Then Darry pulled out a pair of pj pants and shirt and helped me get changed. But before he helped me put my shirt on I asked "Wait. My side felt a little better when you had it wrapped." He then went and got the first aid kit and rewapped my ribs. After that he helped me put on my shirt. Then he layed me down on my bed and I fell asleep.
