-Dhivti-
Anisha and I are in the terrace. She brought me here, away from everyone.
"Tell me, Dhivti. How do you really feel? I know you have not shared the entire story about that incident. Tell me what you are hiding," Anisha speaks, her tone serious.
"Anisha, I am fine. It's over," I defend.
She looks at me as if trying to decipher what is going inside me.
"Dhivti? I know you more than you know yourself. You are hiding something. Tell me," she says, her tone stern.
I turn away from her.
"Aisa kuch nahi hai," I answer.
"Fine, if you won't tell me, I will tell Jahaan that you are hiding something. He will definitely get it out of you," she says and turns to leave but I hold her hand, halting her at her place.
"Don't. You will not say anything to Jahaan. Please," I plead.
Anisha frowns, "Dhivti? That confirms you are hiding something from us."
I release her hand and turn towards the terrace railing. I clutch the railing and take a deep breathe,
"He touched me inappropriately. Akash Gupta," I confess and she gasps.
"What?" she whispers.
A loud thud from behind startled me. I turn thinking it is Anisha but immediately freeze when I see Jahaan standing there. A plate of food scattered on the ground. Aarav beside him carrying a look of disbelief and gloominess.
I look back at Jahaan to see his eyes red. Immense fury. Hurt. His fists are clenched at his sides.
"What did you just say?" he asks, his voice almost cracked.
I shake my head, "no Jahaan-"
He walks towards me, holds my wrist and pulls me with him, moving downstairs.
I don't resist. I know Jahaan is not hurt because of me. He is hurting for me.
He takes me into his room and shuts the door.
Turning towards me, "Where Dhivti? Where did he touch you?" He asks, his voice as if he is physically in pain.
"Jahaan please-"
He walks towards me, leaving just a few inches between us and- gets on his knees. His head lowered, and hands at his sides. He looks completely in despair and my heart aches.
"Jahaan?" I whisper but he doesn't look at me.
I move a little closer and cup his face, making him look towards me. His eyes- his eyes look haunted.
"He touched you- and I couldn't do anything about it. He- He touched my Dhivti," his voice cracks- like he is in the verge of crying.
He takes my hands that were on his cheeks, gently removes them and hold them in his, "Forgive me, Dhivti. I failed. I failed to protect you," a sob escapes him and I immediately get down on my knees, in front of him and hug him.
"No, Jahaan. You did protect me," I reassure him and he embraces me so tight as if he fears I will disappear.
"I didn't let him do anything to me, Jahaan. I promise. He tried but failed," I tell him in a soft whisper.
He pulls back and looks into my eyes, "He still touched you, Dhivti. He fucking did," he says.
"You know? The moment I said your name, he backed off in fear. Even in your absence, you protected me. Your name was enough," I whisper with a small smile.
