Not a boy: Part II (Kagami x reader)

It was the day after you had told him the truth about your gender and things were quite tense between you two.

He would usually go up to you and give you a high five every morning when you walked into the class but today all he did was glance at you and give you an awkward smile. Not even a grin or a smirk, just a small smile.

You felt a bit sad at the tension between you but you brushed it off and gave him a strained smile back. You sat down at your desk hoping for class to start soon.

Throughout the entire time, you couldn't focus on the teachers lesson. You felt someone staring at you the entire time but tried to ignore the feeling thinking it was nothing until you decided to turn and look. You glanced to y ur side and saw him staring and kinda glaring at you.

When he noticed what he was doing the entire time, he looked away with a faint blush appearing on his cheeks.

As classes ended, you tried to talk to Kagami but he gave a pretty lame excuse to leave you such as needing to study with Kuroko for Exams that were months away.

You were starting to regret your choice of telling him you were a girl.

As weeks passed, you always tried to kept talking to him but never got the chance to because he either left early or says he's got basketball.

You couldn't stand it anymore and decided to confront him directly and bluntly. You walked to the gymnasium and slammed the doors opened, surprising everyone, especially a certain boy who used to be your best friend.

You searched around the gym for Kagami which wasn't hard, considering his hair colour and height. When your eyes landed on him, you glared at him, causing shivers to go down his spine.

You marched up to him and, grabbed his shirt, and pulled him down. He looked surprise at your actions and was about to speak until you shut him up.

"I'm sick and tired of your attitude! You learn that I'm a girl instead of a boy and suddenly avoid me for weeks just because I'm not the gender you thought I was?! That is absolutely insane! Do you think that I wouldn't be as fun to hang out with if I was a girl? I would still be the same person, Bakagami!" You shouted out what had been in your mind for weeks. Kagami was really surprised at your sudden outburst and so was the rest of the team.

You realized what you had done but didn't regret it. You weren't even embarrassed. The whole gymnasium was in silence until Kagami decided to break it.

"I-I just needed time to process what you had told me..." He began but kept getting quieter until it was barely audible. Hyuga came up behind him and hit him on the head.

"Idiot! You're supposed to apologize!" Hyuga growled at Kagami for being such an idiot. You did think he deserved the hit to the head and you were quite glad that Hyuga beat you to it so that you didn't have to do it yourself.

"...S-Sorry about ignoring you for a long time (F/N). It's because of my childish behaviour." He said while avoiding eye contact with you while scratching his neck. He looked pretty nervous apologizing to you and actually having a conversation that lasts for more than five seconds with you.

As he finished apologizing, a grin grew on your face. You jumped up and hugged Kagami who looked flustered and surprised. He tried not to fall but utterly failed and crashed down onto the floor.

You felt pretty happy. You still hoped the tension wouldn't last too long and that you both could go back to being best friends like before.

As basketball practice continued, you waited for Kagami to finish so you could walk home with him.
