"SCOTT, hold on," I said, grabbing his shoulders. "You two are dreaming if you think I'm ruining my shoes and outfit. Catch me," was the only warning I gave before jumping on Scott's back and wrapping my legs around his waist.
For whatever reason, Stiles and Scott dragged me back into the woods after practice, and I wasn't a fan.
In all honesty, I just wanted to do my homework and then go to sleep.
Not go on an adventure in the woods.
Scott grabbed under my thighs, hoisting me higher as Stiles snorted, pulling the back of my skirt down.
I knew he was just being a gentleman, but the simple act made me flustered and nervous.
"Continue your story," I commanded Scott as he carried me over the small, muddy stream.
"I don't know what it was," Scott continued on. "It was like I had all the time in the world to catch the balls."
"The lacrosse balls or Stiles's," I joked, earning a playful glare from Stiles. "I'm sorry," I apologised with a laugh, tightening my grip of Scott's shoulders.
"No, you're not," Stiles chuckled, following close behind us.
I nodded my head in agreement. "You're right. I'm not sorry."
Scott laughed and then gently lowered me down onto my feet once we were over the stream. "That's not the only weird thing," he continued, leading the way. "I can hear stuff I shouldn't be able to hear. Smell things."
"Smell things? Like what?" Stiles asked, sticking close to my side.
"Like the Mint Mojito gum in your pocket," Scott answered, looking over at us.
Stiles slowed down, putting his hand in his pocket. "I don't even have any Mint Mojito..." he trailed off, pulling out a piece of gum.
"How's your anger?" I cautiously asked Scott, keeping my heart rate steady in case he could actually hear it beating.
Everything Scott was telling me was adding up to what I knew all too well, and I didn't like that at all.
If he was bitten by what I thought, then that meant he was changing.
And that scared me for him.
"I mean, I guess it's the same," Scott simply answered, and we started walking again.
"So, all this started with the bite," Stiles pushed.
"What if it's like an infection, like my body's flooding with adrenaline before I go into shock or something?" Scott asked us with a worried look.
"Trust me, I don't think it is," I murmured.
"You know what?" Stiles asked. "I actually think I've heard of this. It's a specific kind of infection."
