The past two days had been difficult for both Y/n and Jenna. Jenna kept her distance from her best friend, trying to bury the feelings she had for Y/n. Meanwhile, Y/n was doing everything she could to mend the growing rift between them, desperate to restore the connection they once shared.

The three friends tried everything they could to end the cold war between Y/n and Jenna—though, in truth, it was Jenna who needed convincing.

Y/n was brushing her teeth in the shared bathroom—hers was still out of order. After she finished gargling, the door creaked open, and there stood Jenna. Y/n froze, staring at her, the words caught in her throat. She wanted to talk, to fix things, but held herself back. Jenna was still mad at her... or at least, that's what Y/n believed.

Jenna, however, felt her heart start to race the moment she saw Y/n. It pounded in her chest, loud and unrelenting. She had missed her best friend more than she cared to admit—but she was too busy trying to bury the feelings she wasn't supposed to have.

"I'm just brushing my teeth. The sink upstairs is broken, and I haven't had time to fix it yet," Y/n explained to Jenna, trying to sound casual. But the brunette avoided her gaze, eyes shifting anywhere but at Y/n.

"Why am I even explaining?" Y/n muttered, then quickly added, "Sorry... I'm done anyway. You can use the bathroom now." Her voice softened as she stepped aside, avoiding Jenna's presence just as Jenna had avoided hers.

"Y/n..." Jenna called softly. The taller girl immediately turned toward her, attentive, almost as if she'd been waiting to hear her name all along.

"Uhm..." Jenna swallowed hard before reaching out to grab Y/n's towel. Gently, she dabbed at the corner of Y/n's lips. "You had something here," she murmured. Her hand trembled slightly as she wiped away the small trace of toothpaste, betraying the calm she was trying to maintain.

Y/n felt a wave of embarrassment wash over her, unable to hide the blush creeping up her cheeks. After all, her longtime crush was now standing so close—closer than she'd dared to imagine. "Thank you," she said softly, reaching out to gently hold Jenna's trembling hand, trying to calm both of them.

"Uh... I've been meaning to ask you—if you're not busy this Saturday, there's a friendly match game. I'd really like you to be there," Y/n said, gathering her courage as she invited Jenna to the game.

It was the first time Y/n had invited Jenna to one of her games, and Jenna's first time being asked to come watch. It felt kind of new—like a small but important step toward getting back to how things used to be.

Jenna blinked, surprised by the invitation. "Oh... yeah, I'd like that," she said, a small smile tugging at the corner of her lips. "It'll be interesting to finally see you in action."

Y/n grinned, feeling a little lighter than she had in days. "Don't worry, I won't let you down."

For a moment, the awkwardness between them softened, replaced by something hopeful—like maybe this game could be the start of fixing what had been broken.

"And... I also want to know," Y/n said softly, eyes flickering to Jenna's, "are we... on good terms now?"

"Finally! You two are best friends again!" Emma exclaimed, grinning as the four friends sat together in the cafeteria. Y/n still had class, so it was just Jenna, Emma, Joy, and Hunter hanging out for now.

The next day, Jenna and Y/n showed up together at the coffee shop, and their three friends were caught off guard—surprised, but genuinely happy to see them side by side again.

Hunter glanced between Jenna and the others, smirking. "Is this the shortest time you two have ever spent not acknowledging each other?"

Jenna shrugged, a small smile tugging at her lips. "Probably. It felt way too awkward to keep up."
