You and Jenna have been friends since childhood. You're three years older than her, but because you're the only girl in your family, you quickly grew close. You had always wanted a little sister—and then Jenna came along.
Twenty years later, you're now in college—and Jenna wants to follow in your footsteps by enrolling at your university. You're thrilled that she'll be joining you on campus. Even though your freshman year was rough, you're determined to protect Jenna from anything—or anyone—that might give her a hard time. After all, you've earned the respect of your peers as the captain of the women's basketball team.
"I'm so excited... but also kind of scared. What if people don't like me? What should I do, Y/n?" Jenna asked nervously as you drove toward the university, her things packed in the backseat.
"You don't need to change a thing, Jens. Just be yourself. Don't try to please people just to make them like you. If they don't, that's their loss. You've got me, little bug," you said, reassuring her with a smile.
As you arrived and stepped out of the car, students all around either greeted you or waved. You simply smiled back at them before heading over to help Jenna with her things.
When you looked at Jenna, her insecurities eating her alive. "Hey, I got you. I'm here." You gently held her hand and smiled.
Jenna nodded and helped you grab her bags. "This way," you said, leading the way. "We're in the same dorm hall, so if you ever need anything, just come to my room."
When you both arrived at Jenna's assigned room, you were greeted by her new roommate. "Hi, roomie! I'm Emma—Emma Myers. Nice to meet you!" she said excitedly, flashing a bright smile at Jenna.
"Oh my God! You're Y/n Y/l/n, right?" Emma asked you.
"The one and only," you said with a warm smile, your tone light and friendly as you met her bright energy.
"You're the face of Goldberg University! Can I take a picture?" She asked you.
"I would let you take a picture with me, but promise me to never say about that again to everyone. I'm not really the face of Goldberg University." You replied to her.
"Oh come on! You've helped the women's basketball team to get the championship three times! But sure, I will keep that information to myself." She said and quickly grabbed her photo and took a photo with you.
After that, you eagerly helped Jenna unpack her things. "I can do this, Y/n/n." she said, determined to pitch in.
"You sure? I have plenty time to help you out." You replied to her.
"Uhmm, don't worry, Y/n. Can I call you Y/n? Uhmm... anyways, I will help my roomie to pack away. And I wanted to know her too." Emma insisted before looking at Jenna.
"Alright. But if you're in trouble or really need my help, you know my room number." You reminded your dearest Jenna.
"I will, mom." She sarcastically sighed and just chuckled at her reply.
"See you later, little bug," you said, gently pinching her nose like you always do. Then, with a smile, you left her to settle into her new room with her roommate.
After you left, Jenna busied herself unpacking her things. "How do you know Y/n?" Emma asked, her curiosity clear in her voice.
"We're best friends. I've known her ever since I was born." Jenna replied.
"That's awesome! My roommate is Y/n's childhood best friend!" Emma exclaimed.
Jenna just stared at her, clearly in disbelief. "Well... I'm excited for you too, Jenna," Emma added quickly. "Can I call you Jenna? That's what Y/n used to call you."
