It's been a week since the school year kicked off at Goldberg University, and things are going pretty smoothly for Jenna. Having Emma—her super energetic friend and roommate—definitely helps keep the vibes high. And of course, you're around, checking in and making sure she's doing just fine.
With Emma around, Jenna quickly found a small group of friends too. That's how she met Joy and Hunter—and they're an absolute blast to hang out with.
"I still can't believe your best friend is the one and only Y/n Y/l/n," Joy said to Jenna as they sat on the bleachers, watching Y/n at practice.
Jenna glanced up from the book she'd been reading, her eyes following you as you ran drills on the court.
"Come on, spill some info about her," Hunter said, leaning forward with interest. "What was Y/n like when she was younger?"
"As far as I know, she's still the same Y/n I've always known," Jenna said with a small smile. "Though, yeah... a few things definitely changed after she left college."
"Like what?" Emma asked.
"She's just... more mature now, you know? More independent. College really changed her—in a good way," Jenna said, thinking back. "She used to hang out with my family more than hers, but after she came back from semester break, she was way more into spending time with them. Like, more caring and present."
"And then she got super close to me, too. Not that I'm complaining—I missed her. But it was like she just wanted to be around me all the time. We never really talked about her life at Goldberg University, though."
"You sound kinda disappointed," Joy said, picking up on Jenna's tone.
"Well... I guess? I don't know," Jenna sighed. "I just wish I knew what she was like here, three years ago. I mean, how can I really call myself her best friend if I don't even know that part of her life?"
Hunter gave her a soft smile. "Hey, that doesn't make you any less of a best friend. People grow, you know? And maybe she didn't talk about it because it wasn't all that great."
Emma nodded. "Yeah. Sometimes it's easier to just move forward and not look back. But if it's bothering you, maybe just ask her? She'd probably be happy you care enough to want to know."
Jenna looked down at her hands, thoughtful. "Yeah... maybe I will. I just don't wanna push her."
Joy nudged her gently. "You won't. Just be you. That's probably why she keeps coming back to you anyway."
Jenna shifted her gaze away from Emma and Joy, her eyes landing on Y/n across the court. She was practicing alone, focused and determined.
"She's really come a long way," Jenna said quietly, almost to herself. "I remember when she used to get frustrated so easily... but now, look at her."
Emma followed Jenna's gaze. "Yeah, she's killing it. Hard to believe that the famous Y/n Y/l/n would be so caring. And... vulnerable."
Jenna smiled softly. "Maybe that's what I need to remember—that people change, sometimes in ways you don't expect."
She watched Y/n take a deep breath and push through another round of drills, feeling a mixture of pride and something else—hope, maybe.

After practice and freshening up, Jenna and her friends headed over to Y/N to introduce her new friend. But Y/N was totally swarmed by girls, cheering and asking for pictures with her.
Jenna observed how gently Y/n approached each of the ladies, graciously granting their every request.
"I remember my sister telling me that back when they won their first championship, all the girls were head over heels for Y/n," Hunter told his friends.
