WEDNESDAY ADDAMS
The crisp autumn air carried a sense of familiarity as Y/N L/N stepped off the carriage in front of Nevermore Academy. The black spires loomed against the gray sky, exactly as they had a year ago, but something about returning this time felt different. Maybe it was because she wasn't returning as the nervous new student anymore — or maybe it was because of her.
Students' heads turned as soon as Y/N stepped into the courtyard. Her tall, broad-shouldered figure commanded attention, and whispers followed her. Most remembered not only that she had fought alongside Wednesday last year to save Nevermore, but also the power she carried within her — raw, metahuman strength that had stunned everyone who witnessed it.
And yet, as impressive as Y/N looked, her eyes went immediately to the still figure waiting at the edge of the crowd.
Wednesday Addams stood unnaturally still among the bustle, her dark gaze locking on Y/N with the precision of a blade. A nearly invisible curl of her lip — the faintest ghost of approval — was all the greeting Y/N got, but it was more than enough.
"Y/N," Wednesday said flatly.
"Wednesday," Y/N replied, her voice warm against Wednesday's monotone.
They began walking side by side through the main courtyard, whispers trailing behind them. Students nodded with pride toward Wednesday and admiration toward Y/N, remembering the chaos of last year. Together, they were an intimidating pair: the sharp shadow and the towering shield.
"So... how was your summer?" Y/N asked.
Wednesday's expression didn't shift. "Dreadful. I spent my days avoiding family outings, cataloguing the local cemetery's epitaphs, and experimenting with new methods of preserving animal organs."
Y/N chuckled softly. "Sounds... relaxing."
"And yours?" Wednesday asked, her tone flat but her eyes betraying an unspoken interest.
"Training," Y/N admitted. "Spent a lot of time testing my limits. My family worries I might break something I can't fix, but... I think I'm getting stronger."
Wednesday tilted her head, studying her. "Strength without control is useless. But in your case, it may be entertaining."
Before Y/N could respond, a familiar voice rang out.
"Y/N! Wednesday!"
Enid Sinclair bounded toward them, practically glowing with excitement. She threw herself at Y/N, wrapping her arms tightly around her waist in a hug that barely fit around her frame.
"Y/N! I missed you so much! You got even taller, didn't you?!" Enid squealed, squeezing as though she could actually make Y/N budge.
Y/N laughed, hugging her back gently. "Missed you too, Enid."
When Enid finally pulled away, she flashed Wednesday a grin. "Hey, roomie!"
Wednesday stood motionless, arms folded behind her back. She gave no reply — but Y/N noticed the faint narrowing of her eyes, the smallest shift of her jawline, as though watching Enid cling to Y/N irritated her.
Still beaming, Enid looped her arm through Y/N's and began walking with them. "So! My summer was awesome. I got to hang with my pack, worked on some new nail art—oh! And..." her voice dropped conspiratorially, "...I might have met someone."
Y/N tilted her head, giving Enid her full attention. "Oh? Met someone?"
Enid giggled, cheeks pink. "Yeah. His name's Bruno. He's from my pack. He's funny and sweet, and... I think I might like him."
