Chapter 9

(1 moon is one year)

Nico's POV

I stepped out of the shadows back at the warehouse,and put Jess down,where she promptly threw up.I was surprised she didnt throw up the first time we traveled.She went over to Sky and began a conversation.I noticed that some cats were staring at her.They followed her with their eyes.Most of the other cats were preoccupied with eating but three cats were staring right at Jess.She walked back over to me and went to human form."Hey Jess?"I asked."How old are you?"She looked taken aback but said"About 19 moons.Why?"I looked at the three cats and titled my head.Jess looked over and the three looked away quickly."How old is Sky?"I asked."About 17 moons."She said"When I was about 2 moons I had just become a charger,those are the neko's who are out of apprenticeship,and a young kit was spotted among the borders.She was brought in and interrogated.The current leader was cruel and suspicious to any new person.He said that if no one wanted her she would be left where they found her.Taking a chance I stepped forward and took her.Now I am leader and Sky is one of the greatest hunter/fighter we have ever had."She smiled warmly at Sky."Why do you need fighters?"I asked."Well.."she started to say when suddenly a scarred male came rushing in and stopped by Jess.He turned into a human and said something quietly.She looked serious."Are you sure?"She asked.He nodded.Jess turned on her heel and shouted."All kits,elders,carriers and apprentices into the east safe house,now!Everyone else come with me."She pulled off her hat to reveal a pair of brown ears with gold highlights,that matched her hair.Then a tail flowed smoothly out from behind her.Everyone that had stayed did the same.I wondered why they all were wearing hats,even the children were wearing hats when i saw them.Jess turned to me and said to follow them from the rooftops if I could.Then everyone followed Jess out the door.I made it to the roof just in time to see them running towards a large group of people.I jumped a rooftop and stood on the roof above them.I watched as Jess and the largest guy from the group exchanged words.I heard the unfamiliar group laugh and Jess's group growled as Jess said something back.Now it was the neko's turn to laugh and the strangers growled.Jess suddenly went into defense position as the new group took off their hats and I saw why they were on the verge of fighting the new comers were...
