Chapter 8

Nico's POV

I stepped out of the shadow of Thalia's pine,just passed camp borders.I started to walk to the Hephaestus cabin hoping to find Leo,if anyone could fry a pigeon it was Leo.I started to get weird glances from the other campers.I cant imagine how strange I looked carrying a cat and a dead bird. But I was the son of Hades.I was weird anyway to these people.The Hephaestus campers said Leo had gone to the beach with the seven and Thalia for a picnic so thats where I was headed.I got to the beach and saw them.Sure enough Leo was sitting with Annabeth,Percy,Jason,Hazel,Frank,Piper,and Thalia. I walked over to them and saw they had brought some good looking food.Percy saw me first and waved me over.Everyone turned to looks at me as I walked down the beach with Jess in one hand and the dead bird in the other."Hey Nico!"Percy said.He looked at my hands."Are you ok?"He asked."Yes im fine.Everyone this is Jess."I said putting Jess on the picnic blanket."Frank looked at Jess and turn into a cat.Everyone started laughing.Jess looked at Frank and meowed.Frank meowed back.They began playing in the sand together."So Nico,aren't  you supposed to be looking for that demigod?"Piper asked. I sighed."Yes but there are some complications,in fact ill be heading back soon but i was wondering if Leo could fry this for me so I can eat it?"I held out the pigeon.Everyone stopped and looked at me.I shook the pigeon."So are you guys going to stop staring and fry this pigeon or not?"I asked irritated.Leo looked at me and said."I think were just interested in the story behind this."The rest of the group nodded.I opened my mouth to explain when Frank stopped playing with Jess and turned back to human and asked."Does anyone speak Japanese?"Hazel said"I speak a little bit,why?""What does Neko mean?"He asked."It means cat."Hazel replied"Ok,what does Henge mean?""Transform,will you tell me why?"Hazel asked."In one second."Frank said and turned back into a cat.Then I started to explain my story.I talked about the nekos and the warehouse and what had happened up to this point.When I was finished everyone burst into laughter."Yeah right,Nico!" Jason said.I was just about to say something when Jess jumped on the blanket and turned into a human."Hello!"She said brightly.Everyone stopped and stared at her.She looked around and went back to cat form.She went and did the greeting that Sky did to me to everyone.She grabbed the pigeon out of my hand and brought it to Leo.He picked it up and fried it.Jess brought it back to me and I picked her up,said goodbye and shadow traveled back to the warehouse.
