Chapter 5

Sky's POV

    I woke up and stretched.I got up and started to groom myself.I licked my paw and brought it over my ears and my muzzle.When I was done I went out and Jace was out as usual,assigning duties."Jenna,you're on east guard,Adam,you're on south,and Maddi,you're on north."He assigned a couple of us to the regular,like laundry and kit-care.I walked up and patiently waited."Sky,go find a team and head out for some food,i-if that's ok with you of course."He said shifting on his paws and getting really nervous.A couple of henges snickered and i felt both me and Jace start to blush a bit."Ok."I said running to find my friends before I embarrassed myself in front of Jace.I quickly found Ty,Mark,and Sapphire to go hunting with me.We went out and successfully caught a couple of sewer rats,two mice,and three pigeons.I caught two pigeons and Ty and Sapphire teamed to catch the third.Mark caught a rat,I got the other two.I am covered in scratches from those dirty rats but nothing is infected i dont think.I'll make sure to check with Angie when we get back.We were walking back when Mark came up to me and said "Hey,Sky,did you see me catch that rat?"I rolled my eyes.He was trying to impress me,too bad for him it wasn't working.Mark was significantly larger than me,but everyone knew he was no match for me in a fight."I dont know,did you see me catch those two?"I asked.Mark was about to say something,but I cut him off."You know I also caught those two pigeons,and I do believe you almost let that baby mouse escape,remember?"Ty and Sapphire burst out laughing at the embarrassed look on Mark's face.He suddenly stiffened up with a look of anger on his face."At least I have parents."He said.My vision instantly went red and I lunged at Mark.He dodged me and took off running,me at his heels.He ran inside and out his prey in the pile.I was to mad to remember that I had left mine back at the alley.Mark kept running every once and a while looking back to check if i was still chasing him.I finally caught up to him and clawed his side,making him gasp in pain.He turned and swiped at my face.I dodged and jumped on him clawing at his back and and his tail.A couple of the older henge's came in and split us apart.One of the elders came and asked what happened.Luckily Ty and Sapphi came in at that time and supported my story.I told her what happened in the ally and she nodded in understanding.She went to talk to Mark and Jace came running up to my and began grooming the top of my head.I cuddled into his chest fur,and started to cry.Jace told me that there was a human in home and Jess was introducing him.Jace led me and the elder led Mark into the main room where the human was being introduced.I asked Jace what had happened so far and Jace said that Jess had been an watch when she spotted the human and caught him.I realized everyone was staring and that 1)Jace and I were not in our human forms and 2)We interrupted Jess.Jace and i quickly changed into our human forms and looked at Jess.She continued by saying that the human was a child of some god and a mortal.Everyone gasped and looked at the stranger with amazement.I saw that he was really muscular for a human,but he was very pale,like he didnt get outside much.Then what was he doing here?"He is looking for another of his kind and we will welcome him as one of our own.Is that clear?"She said.There was some mumbling among the crowd.I slowly approached the newcomer my mind seeing skills haven't fully developed yet so i didnt try.Instead i walked up to him and said."My name is Skyfire."I said using my full name.He looked at me surprised and then said."My name is Nico.Nice to meet you."He held out his hand and I looked at it strangely.I bowed my head and rubbed my head around him in a circle as the usual greeting.I looked up at everyone and said."Well?What are you waiting for?Lets welcome our guest."Everyone lined up to greet him,Jace being one of the first.After he greeted Nico he came to me and said"That was really brave,going in front of everyone like that."He wrapped his arms around me in a human hug.I always loved hugs.They feel so warm.I looked up and said"Hey,guess what?"He looked me in the eye and said"What?"I grabbed his face and kissed him.It wasn't long before someone said"Look!Finally!"Everyone turned to look at us.We pulled away,cheeks burning.I could just barely hear it but i could've sworn Jace said very quietly."Mate."
