*Incoming FaceTime call: cal (ew)*
Calum's call interrupted my mini you tube marathon (the holy trinity was addicting) and I quickly pressed the accept button.
"Goat."
"What?"
"Nothing, hey can you just come over and help me?" He asked, giving me the puppy dog face.
"Yeah probably," I answered rather quickly, "if so I'll be over in five."
"Aight coo." He hung up just as quick as he called and I grabbed a sweatshirt, pulling it over my head and heading out to the front door.
"Mom I'm going to Calum's to help him with homework. I'll be back by ten and if I'm not I'll be over there." I yelled out as I slipped on my vans (Thank you for the existence of no shoelace shoes).
"Alright hun, make sure Joy is okay with it though."
"Yeah alright, bye love you."
"Love you too."
And with that blessing I was out the door.
Calum and I's houses faced each other from the back. Which meant the fronts were on the streets next to each other.
It was a short walk to the street over, plus I don't do all that jumping over fences stuff, that's all him.
I rang the doorbell (cause I was still polite) and I was faced with a super hyper, wide eyed, looking Calum.
"Woah are you okay-"
"Just come on," He grabbed my wrist, pulling me inside the all too familiar household, "MOM JULY IS HERE WE'LL BE IN THE BASEMENT WORKING ON A PROJECT."
"Hi July!" I heard Mali shout from the kitchen.
"Hi!" I yelled back.
"Alright and Cal? Don't make her do all the work like last time?"
I laughed at that and he just huffed as he pulled me down the stairs in a rush.
"Well aren't you excited to start chemistry." I smiled and sat down on the couch, observing the small poster board in the middle of the floor, tape and various papers scattered around it.
"Who even gives a poster project in the third week of school?" He asked rhetorically as he kneeled down on the ground.
"Who do you have?"
"Johnson."
"Yikes."
"I know she's a complete nightmare."
Calum was nothing but jumpy ever since I rang the doorbell.
"Hey did you had like three cups of black coffee or something?"
"More like black tea."
"Cal!"
"What?"
"You can't have black tea at eight at night! You'll never sleep."
"Well I knew I was just going to procrastinate so I needed to stay up later to finish."
"You are probably the worst student I know." I asked, popping my gum.
"Thank you so much." He smiled at me and continued to look through stacks of useless words he was never going to need in the future.
"Being a junior sucks."
"Ahh come on, it's not that bad." I said half heartedly.
"There's so much testing and pressure for college, I don't know if I'm ready for this year. It's only been three weeks and I'm already failing."
