Fairy Godmother had left the four teens hours earlier, giving them a few more worksheets to work on until she would be able to meet with them again.
Jay was sitting at the table, squeezing his head with his hands as he struggled with the problems.
"You alright?" Evie asked, walking up behind him. Jay turned to look at her.
"Just fine," he sighed.
"Maybe I can explain this a little differently," she said, taking a seat next to the long haired boy.
"So you're looking for the number of neutrons..." She started. "What two numbers are you going to use?"
"The weight," Jay said doubtfully.
"Yes! And what else?" Evie questioned.
"The.... The.... I don't know Evie," he sighed.
"Yes you do," she assured him.
"The...... Atomic number?" He guessed.
"Yes! And do you know what the atomic number is also?"
"The number of protons!" He shouted, smiling.
"Yes!" She smiled. "So you you subtract the atomic weight by the atomic number and you get...."
"The number of neutrons!" He stood up and let out a loud "Wooooooo!"
Evie laughed and stood up next to him.
"See? You know what you're doing." She poked his chest.
"Yeah, I do..." He said looking into her eyes.
Evie met his gaze and saw something in his eyes she never noticed before. It seemed to pull her in, almost like Maleficent's castle pulled Mal back on the Isle of the Doomed. Like it was destiny. Jay also felt the same force and felt himself leaning in. Just as the two's eyes began to close as they neared each other, they heard the door open.
"Hey...." King Ben's voice trailed off as he noticed the moment he interrupted. He held back a smirk as he continued. "Sorry about that."
"Yeah..." Jay grumbled as he sat back down in his seat. Evie blushed as she walked over to the girl's side of the room where Mal was studying her spell book and Carlos was on his laptop.
"Jayvie," he mumbled under his breath.
Mal let out a loud snort at Carlos's outburst.
"What?" Evie said as she walked over to the pair, followed by Ben.
"Nothing," Mal said between laughs. She reached down and gave Carlos a high five. He smiled innocently and glanced up at Evie.
"I have great news," Ben started.
Jay walked over and the 4 kids sat on the bed, looking up at the King of Auradon.
"Yes?" Mal prompted him to continue.
"They caught your parents."
The four let out breaths that they didn't know they were holding.
"Thank goodness," Carlos said, meaning it literally.
"So... We can leave now?" Jay said, glancing at the other three.
"Actually," Ben started. "I was thinking we could celebrate. Well throw a party right here. Invite all our friends."
The teens looked around at the large room surrounding them, and Evie was mentally decorating it.
"Sounds fun," Carlos smiled.
