The last bell for the day rang, and instantly every student in Auradon Prep made a beeline for their dorms. After all, there were only 5 hours to get ready for the dance that night.
In Mal and Evie's room, nearly every girl from campus showed up for help with one thing or another, all knowing Evie's extreme talent when it comes to makeup and fashion.
Evie was almost completely ready for the dance so she ran around the room, helping the girls who were struggling. Lonnie couldn't get her hair to stay up, Jane was having trouble with her eyeshadow, and another girl was in tears over her ripped dress.
Evie got her sewing kit and kneeled down, fixing the ripped dress in minutes.
"Thank you so much," the red head gasped as she calmed down. "I don't know what I'd do without you."
"Well, you look great," Evie smiled.
The girl smiled as she walked out of the room, thanking Evie again.
Evie walked to her bed and sat down next to Jane, taking the eye-shadow brush from her and instructing the younger girl to close her eyes. Soon, her eyes were light blue and sparkly.
"Perfect."
Evie then walked over to the mirror and got the last of Lonnie's hair to stay up.
"So did anyone ask you to the dance?" Evie asked as she secured a bobby pin.
"Yeah," Lonnie said carefully. "Doug."
Evie blinked and was quiet for a moment before replying.
"Well I hope you have a good time," she said as she finished up.
The girls heard screaming from down the hall and turned to see Jay and Carlos walk through the door.
"Check it out," Jay said, completely dressed. His hair was back in a bun and he was wearing his suit, along with a yellow, red and brown tie.
Carlos was also completely ready for the dance, but was sporting a black, white and red tie.
"Nice ties," Mal said as she walked out of the bathroom in her dress.
"I made them," Carlos announced proudly.
Evie sat down at the table and touched up her makeup. Mal, seeing that Evie was oblivious, gave Jay a curious look. Jay shook his head and Mal let out a loud huff.
"All set," Evie mumbled to herself.
"Well I should get going," Lonnie said as she walked out of the room. "Thanks Evie!"
"You're welcome," Evie smiled. Jane also thanked her as she walked out of the room.
"Uhhhhhh," the three heard Carlos mutter. He was holding a loose thread from his jacket, and it was obvious he had pulled it.
Evie walked over with a pair of scissors and made sure the jacket was okay before cutting the thread. Mal took this opportunity to gesture Jay to talk to Evie, and when he shook his head, she replied with a very different gesture.
"Oh no!" Mal said in fake horror.
"What?" Evie asked, innocently.
"I was supposed to tell Carlos to meet Ben tonight," Mal lied.
"For what?" Carlos asked as Mal took him by the arm and started to walk towards the door.
"I don't know," Mal said as she locked eyes with Jay. "But it was very important."
Jay got the hint as the two left the room, leaving an awkward Jay and a confused Evie.
"You look nice," Jay said nonchalantly.
"Thank you," Evie smiled. "I love your tie."
Jay straightened it out as he spoke. "Thanks."
Evie smiled and sat down to put on her shoes. They matched the gold in her dress, and had dark blue jewels running down the front of them.
"So you don't have a date?" Jay asked as he swayed on his feet.
Evie shrugged. "Nope. Do you?"
"Nah," Jay smirked. "Maybe... Maybe we can dance then." He said as he took a seat next to her, trying to hide his nervousness.
"I would like that..." Evie answered shyly.
"Me too."
The room got silent as Jay and Evie met eachothers gaze. They slowly started to lean in and closed their eyes.
"Hey guys," Ben said as he knocked on the doorframe. "Oooooh," he said, realizing he ruined yet another moment for the two.
"Let's get this party started," Jay smiled at the two, hiding his blushing cheeks as he walked out of the room, lightly shoving Ben on the way out.
