It was 9 am and Danni was wide awake. She was eighteen. An adult at last. But the best thing about the day was that she was going to spend the whole day with her best friend and then the evening with her girlfriend. Perfect.

She got a quick shower and walked downstairs to find her family and Lily sat at the kitchen table.

"Breakfast time!" Dawn called, and the group turned, smiling towards Danni.

This was going to be the best birthday ever, Danni could just sense it. Digging into her full English and chatting and laughing with her family, Danni felt the warmth of love deep within her heart. She almost felt a little guilty that she had been so preoccupied with Nicky in the past two months, she had missed out on times like these when everyone got together. This was what family was about. Some day soon in the future, she knew that Nicky would be accepted into her family, and then Danni's family would be complete.

After breakfast, Lily dragged Danni out to her car.

"Where are we going?" Danni questioned, smiling at the surprise of Lily whisking her off somewhere.

"I'll give you clues," Lily replied, as she pulled away.

"Ok. Fire away."

"Remember where we met?"

"Yeah, that's too easy Lily, I barged in front of you to go down the slide at Victoria Park."

"There you go!"

"Why are we going to the park?"

"Ahh, now that's the bit you need a thinking hat on for."

"Right, continue."

"We saw an advert for it together. We were out in town ages ago and we spotted the poster. It's what we saw the advert for, that's where we are going to."

"No. Way."

"Yes way," Lily grinned across at Danni.

"You've got to be shitting me," Danni couldn't believe it.

"I'm not," Lily said as they hit a queue of traffic.

Danni saw the sign in the distance that confirmed her thoughts. Lily had got tickets to the annual party in the park. The party in the park was a one day only event that had anything and everything that you could imagine clustered into Victoria Park's scenic fields. In the morning, there were food stalls, shops and stands all set up in the main field. The reason why the event was so renowned was the freebies (mostly alcohol containing) that each stand gave away, but this came with a price. The cheapest tickets still hideously expensive. In the afternoon, the music and events started. A stage was set up where well known British bands played to a lively and slightly tipsy audience as the sun started to set. There was copious amounts of alcohol, and anyone who was lucky enough to get hold of a ticket would surely have a good time. Danni was beyond excited.

"Lily! Thank you so much! How did you even get the tickets? You must have paid-"

"Don't worry about it. Your Mum helped."

"Well, I don't care how much help you got, thank you so much! You're the best friend ever!"

"I know I am. So the plan is, stay until the finale," Lily said as she rummaged around behind her seat to pick up an event guide off the car floor and hand it to Danni.

"Yeah it sounds good. Shit, Lily, the Arctic Monkeys are finishing!"

"I know right! I thought you'd like the sound of that."

"Too right! But we can't stay."

"Why not?"

"The finale's at six, by the time we leave, we will be late for meeting Nicky and Tom. I told Nicky I would see her at seven."
