Christmas came and went in its usual joyous way. Danni felt truly accepted by her family, but she knew that she still couldn't let on the Nicky was a teacher. That would be one step too far. Her parents had been fairly cool about the revelation that Danni had a girlfriend, but it had taken them a few days to adjust their mindsets slightly. Soon, everything was back to normal.

It was New Years' Eve and Danni and Lily were going out to Haze's annual party. The bar put on fireworks, and was open for the whole night and the next morning. It was the first time the girls were going to the party, but they'd heard it had been amazing in previous years, and now they were both legally allowed in the bar, they couldn't wait to experience it themselves.

Danni also hoped that Nicky would be there. She didn't think it would be unusual for her girlfriend to be at the bar for such an occasion, but also prepared herself for if she wasn't there too. She didn't want to get her hopes up, and still wanted to have a good night, even if she wasn't there.

They hadn't spoken in two weeks, and it surprised Danni how much she had started to miss Nicky in such a short space of time. It physically brought flutters to her stomach when she thought about laying her eyes on Nicky's face again, and she got that familiar feeling of nervous excitement growing.

Lily and Danni were soon ready, and stepped into the taxi that took them to Haze. The bouncers on the door, now familiar with their faces, didn't even stop to check their ID, and let them in. As per usual, they walked straight to the bar and downed a vodka shot each to kick start the evening. The music was already thumping, and there were plenty of lively, slightly tipsy people already, even though it was only nine o'clock. The two girls chatted for a bit in a booth, before Lily got a text from Tom saying that he was just outside, in the queue to get in. Danni encouraged Lily to go and find him, whilst she went back to the bar and ordered herself another drink.

"Tequila, please," Danni said to the bartender.

She usually only did tequila with someone, but she felt in the mood, and with the absence of Lily, she had to settle for going solo.

"Make that two," said a sultry voice behind Danni's shoulder.

Danni felt a hand wrap around her waist, and soon hot breath appeared by her ear.

"Hey beautiful," Nicky whispered in Danni's ear.

"Why hello," Danni grinned, as she turned in Nicky's arm.

They stood for a moment, staring at each other, lost in their own world. Danni was always surprised by the power of her feelings for Nicky. At times, she would forget how absorbing and entrancing her eyes were, and how smooth her skin was. All Danni really wanted was to experience Nicky every day, so she would be constantly reminded of these facts.

The bartender coughed, and Nicky paid him, before the routine of the tequila drinking was completed. Danni grimaced as the sour liquid burned her throat and lungs, and Nicky couldn't help but laugh at her expression.

"I told my parents I'm gay," Danni said after a while.

"How did they take it?" Nicky asked.

"Well. I think. I told them about you."

Nicky almost choked on her wine, and soon she was coughing and spluttering, trying to regain composure.

"You what?"

"I told them about you. Not everything. Just that I have a girlfriend. Pretty much all of it bar the fact you're my maths teacher."

"Well I'm glad you edited that bit out."

"I'm not sure it would have gone down too well."

"Me neither. When are you going to tell them?"

"When I finish school? Then it's not a problem, and they can't really do much about it."

"I guess."

The movement of a body towards them caught Danni's eye, and suddenly a feeling of anger rose in her stomach. This could not be happening. No tonight.

"What a surprise seeing you girls here!" The familiar voice said in a nasal, patronising tone.

It was Jenny. The blonde had a girl wrapped in her arms, but surprisingly, or perhaps not, it was a different one to the last time Danni had met her. Obviously she had ditched another fiancée.

"Hello Jenny," Danni said, coolly.

"I wasn't talking to you," Jenny said, staring Nicky down, "still with that bitch then?"

"She's not a bitch. She's ten times the person you'll ever be," Nicky said, placing her arm back around Danni's waist, and pulling her close into her body.

"Yeah, but a nice person doesn't keep you coming at night Nicky."

Danni was shocked by Jenny's crude language. It was kind of funny that Jenny didn't even know that they hadn't had sex yet, so her statement was true, but Danni knew that as soon as school was over and done with, she would prove Jenny wrong. If the way that Nicky reacted to her touch was anything to go by, it wouldn't take much for Danni to really make Nicky explode.

"That's actually not true," Nicky stated.

"Oh yeah? A good fuck is she? Doesn't look like it."

"Babe," Nicky said patronisingly, "you wouldn't know what I look like after a good fuck anyway."

Jenny stood, mouth gaping, and silent. She had no way to counter what Nicky had just said. Nicky giggled a little.

"Nice try Jenny, we will see you soon. Nice to meet your new shag too."

Nicky grabbed Danni's hand and dragged her outside, away from the crowds. The pair were still laughing at the whole situation as they walked out into the bitterly cold air. Wearing only short dresses, and still holding hands, they moved closer to each other for warmth. The feeling of Nicky's hand in her own, and her body pressed against Danni's side was enough to send Danni's hormones into overdrive. It had been two weeks without any physical contact with Danni, and her senses were somehow heightened.

"Want to walk?" Nicky said, grinning.

Danni suspected that Nicky was more than a little tipsy, judging by her responses back in the bar, but also by the fact that she didn't seem to be feeling the cold quite as much as Danni, plus the fact that she was swaying slightly as she walked.

"I'd love to," Danni responded.

They walked along a few streets, relishing the rare feeling of being able to hold each other's hand in public. It was dark, late and one of the most popular nights to party in the country. There was no one out on the streets to see them walking together, so there was nothing to be afraid of.

Turning to look into Nicky's hazel eyes, Danni didn't think she had ever seen someone quite so perfect. Nicky's mascara was slightly smudged from a combination of sweat and tears of laughter, and her lipstick had worn off, but somehow her face was perfect. Danni couldn't believe how lucky she was to be able to call this woman her girlfriend.
