It was the last day of the Summer holidays, and for Danni Matthews, the past eight weeks of freedom had flown by. She loved the break from school, and had used all available time seeing her friends and her boyfriend. Well, she had used her time up seeing him, until he dumped her last week.
Her latest pice of trash had been Jay. He was cute, with messy short brown hair and a twinkle in his eye that got most of the girls weak at the knees, but Danni wasn't one of them. He was nice and everything, but just not really her type, a bit too safe. She liked living on the edge with a bit of danger, and Jay was anything but that. After a few weeks of meaningless fooling around, she had got bored, and Jay sensed this, so she got dumped. As per the yearly tradition, Danni and her best friend Lily were due to meet up to spend their last day of the holiday together. Usually they just hung around at the park or something, but this year, they were going to meet up in town, as part of Lily's plan to find a boy that Danni might actually commit to in the long term. No chance.
For Danni, being in a relationship just caused problems. She couldn't go out as much. She couldn't get off with someone at a party. She couldn't just have meaningless sex whenever she felt like it. She always felt bound. That's why, until Jay, she had steered clear of relationships altogether. And now that her latest attempt at actually being committed had failed, she knew she would be looking for some no-strings-attached fun soon.
Danni was waiting at the bus stop, scrolling through her twitter feed, looking at all the pointless shit people were posting. She realised how much some people moaned, it was honestly ridiculous. She was scowling at the latest tweet from one of the popular girls at the school, when a text from Lily flashed up:
'Gonna be late. Overslept, sorry xx'
Danni grinned, that was Lily for you. It was no surprise whatsoever that Lily had overslept, in fact it would have been more of a surprise if she had actually woken up on time. Danni could probably have counted on her hands the amount of times that Lily had shown up to school last year on time. At first the teachers all stressed when Lily was late, but after a few weeks they realised Lily was just being Lily and they stopped punishing her altogether. Danni replied to Lily's text.
'It's ok. Bus hasn't arrived yet. See you in about an hour?xx'
'Yep, I can get there by then. Love ya xx'
'Love you too xx'
Danni went back to tapping her foot and scrolling through her twitter feed filled with superficial people. She could not wait for this goddamn bus to arrive. Danni sighed to herself, checked her watch, bounced up and down, and then got bored. She was fed up of waiting. Danni Matthews didn't have to wait for anything, she got what she wanted straight away. Always. The boy she wanted - tick. The marks in class she needed - tick. The latest item trending at the moment - tick. So she was hot, clever and spoilt, but she didn't care. Danni carried it off with such ease and loveability that anyone would warm to her instantly. That's why everyone at school liked her, so school life for her, was a breeze. Almost too easy. Maybe it would toughen up this year, it was after all her final year at school.
"Ouch!" She yelped as some idiot of a woman ran straight into her with a coffee. The liquid spilled out over the sides and splashed over the majority of the simple white top Danni was wearing under her leather jacket. Shit. She needed to change.
"Oh my gosh! I'm so sorry!" Squealed the woman sincerely. As she spoke she stopped and looked up at Danni. God, this woman was gorgeous. Looking at the coffee-spiller, Danni was entranced. They were about the same height, so she must have been 5'5 ish, but her long legs made her seem taller. She was wearing this oversized checked shirt, that hung off her sexily, and was rolled up to the elbow, with leggings (god they clung to her ass so well), and vans. Then Danni took in her face. Man, she was hot. Very hot. She was a brunette with slightly wavy shoulder length hair, that bounced in the slight breeze. Her eyes shimmered, they drew Danni in, and all she wanted to do was look in those eyes for hours. They were sort of hazel coloured, but the slight tones of green and slight tones of brown kept Danni intrigued, but soon she realised she was staring and snapped out of her trance, blushing.
