"He pulled Chen into the kitchen and managed to get hold of Suho as well. Sehun was frantic and pushed Xiumin and I out before his father could reach us. We were all screaming and scrambled out from his house. Sehun tried to stop him but being the small sized kid he was, he was pushed aside and his father was onto us in no time. We ran. Into a lady and we yelled for help but what we didn't hear was Sehun yelling at us not to go near her. She was his mother and she grabbed me by the collar into a choke. Xiumin continued running while I was dragged back to the house."
Baekhyun didn't know how to react. His parents were THAT violent? Is that why Sehun kept asking to stay away from him? Because of his parents? He wanted to know more but at the same time, the truth was scary.
"We were locked in the kitchen. If that wasn't scary enough, Sehun was also inside with us but he was handcuffed to the door. The three of us didn't know what to say or do. Sehun was just quiet and he didn't even look at us. I was the first to approach him but when I saw his face, I knew why he didn't look up at us. There was blood flowing down and he hid it from us. I was scared and at a loss. His parents had just locked us in the house and I couldn't even fathom Sehun's life there."
"How did you get out?" Baekhyun whispered. Fear laced his voice slightly. Lay was right. Even he couldn't imagine how it must be like to be Sehun.
"We were lucky. The windows could be opened from the inside but it was thanks to Sehun who told us that as well. Suho and Chen got out fine but I wanted to stay with Sehun. He didn't want me to though. He knew it was dangerous but I asked him to follow me but he said that was even riskier and he couldn't ever run from his parents. I can only think that he had tried that before. He told me to leave and never come back... and never find him again. Somehow everything felt so surreal at that moment but I left, thinking and hoping it was all a dream but it wasn't. Sehun didn't appear in school and the teacher even said he transferred. It was a shock for us but no one believed us when we told them what happened. They said it was all just a child's imagination. I was saddened. Sehun doesn't deserve to be treated like this. He doesn't. But if he doesn't want me to, I can't do anything either."
"So you will just let Sehun suffer..?" Baekhyun asked through gritted teeth. He shouldn't feel mad at the five of then who had seen how Sehun's parents really are. They were only just junior high and surely no one would believe that their friend's parents just tried kidnapping them.
"If I could meet him again, I'll bring him away. But I haven't had any luck since I went back to China after that incident. I only came back recently but I wasn't able to find which school Sehun had enrolled in until you gave me that call. This means Sehun still kept my number and I feel thankful for that. Although he must have switched his number since I couldn't call him."
"Let's go," Baekhyun said while sipping down the last of his drink. "We are going to find him now." Lay blinked in surprise. There seemed to be determination in Baekhyun's words and that alone made Lay curious.
"What is Sehun to you?" He let the words slip. "If you don't mind me asking." Baekhyun didn't know what to reply. He never really gave that a thought. Sehun was just a junior he was really really interested in....? When Lay saw he couldn't get an answer, he just smiled. "It's okay. I wouldn't really be able to answer that question either." Baekhyun sighed in relief and stood up. The moment they left the cafe, Kai ran right past them and Baekhyun instinctively grabbed him, causing the taller boy to slip and almost fall.
"B-b-baekhyun sunbae! What a- I'm in a rush now!" Kai stumbled, his words in a scramble as well.
"What's wrong?" Baekhyun asked. Kai was fidgeting all over and trying to pull his shirt out from Baekhyun's grip.
"Sehun. Sehun. Sehun. I.. I just gotta go. Please," Kai stuttered unstoppably and Baekhyun let go in response to Sehun's name being mentioned. He followed Kai and Lay followed both of them. Kai hadn't even noticed them behind him as he was in such a hurry.
Sehun. What happened to him? Was all Baekhyun could think of. It seemed like Kai knew where he was going since he hadn't even slowed down once. He finally stopped after a long 4 minute run. He panted and gasped for air but went straight to a gate as well. He hadn't run that fast in forever and it was taking a toll on him.
"Kai, are you alright?" Baekhyun asked, worried. Kai nodded and leaned on the gate.
"Help. Need to help Sehun. Please, sunbae," Kai gasped. He was sure even during the marathon, he didn't run that fast. Baekhyun jumped over the gate and rammed towards the door. Lay did the same and the front door gave way to the two teens. What greeted them was something they couldn't even imagine. Sehun was on the ground with a lady on top of him with a knife cutting the boy's pearly skin. Baekhyun tackled the lady off Sehun without a second thought.
"Sehun, stay with me. Sehun," Lay said while holding him up.
"L...Lay hyung? How....?" Sehun mumbled and his conciousness left him. Lay immediately called the ambulance and then the police before checking on Baekhyun who had the lady held tight on the ground.
"That's his mother...," Lay said softly and Baekhyun looked up in a worried expression. The lady seemed totally out of it. She was mumbling incoherent words and had stopped struggling.
"She kept saying he will leave me just like his father... What does that mean...?" Lay shrugged and went outside to bring Kai inside as they waited for the ambulance and police. He checked on Sehun's wounds but he couldn't do much since he didn't know the way around Sehun's house. Sehun was still breathing and that was enough reassurance for now.
